UriahHeep (311) - Georgia, USA - OCT 18, 2021
UPDATED: OCT 18, 2021 Thick, black, cola-like appearance with fizzy dark head. Aroma presents deep notes of maple syrup and oak resin. French toast with brown sugar and molasses. Thickly viscuous like a syrup. Rich, sticky and flavorful. Intensely roasted, woody and married with deep sweetness. Thick palate, huge flavor profile. Manages to balance in the end. Every bit of 10% a/bv.

UPDATED: SEP 12, 2021 From can (2019 vintage) in tulip. Pours dark brown w/big tan head, aroma of maple syrup & roast malt, a touch woody. Rich malty sweetness punctuated by cinnamon-like spice in the finish.

Maris (2828) - Canberra, AUSTRALIA - AUG 23, 2021
UPDATED: AUG 23, 2021 From a 473ml can on 23/8/2021. Pours a deep mahogany with a medium head. Smells a bit malty with a good dash of caramel and some light maple syrup. Tastes quite sweet up front - herwe the maple syrup is more pronounced (can't comment on what birch syrup tastes like), with some caramel and burnt toffee. Finishes with a firm bitterness which is true to the strong ale style, and a touch of warming alcohol. The mouthfeel is a touch syrupy, the carbonation moderate. A very solid big beer.

zoucrew102 (4959) - - AUG 2, 2021
UPDATED: AUG 2, 2021 Pint can, 2019 vintage. Maple syrup aroma with notes of bready malt, birch syrup, caramel malt and toffee malt. Pours deep brown with a large mocha brown head that has excellent retention and lacing. Starts with rich caramel, toffee and bready malt flavors as well as having a rich, full body and slick, smooth mouthfeel. Finishes smooth with maple and birch syrup flavors. Pretty nice and surprisingly not too sweet with all the syrups.

hawthorne00 (6630) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - JUL 20, 2021
UPDATED: JUL 20, 2021 Can. 2019 version dawdled its way into town. Very dark brown with a good inch of beige head that sticks around and laces. Aroma of strong bread, dried and stewed fruit, dark sugars. Full bodied, moderate carbonation. Sweet with bread and stewed fruit, then singed notes that restrain the sweetness and dry things a little before moderate bitterness. Some sweetshop spices. No overt alcohol. Like many a beer associated with SN, seems a local translation of good English and Scottish ideas rather than an attempt at a copy. A characterful, dreamy brew.

MrBoh (144) - - FEB 13, 2021
UPDATED: FEB 13, 2021 Pretty sweet, definitely maple with some pungent spice (or is that the birch?) and maybe some licorice. Very dry, spicy finish. Malt bomb; zero discernible hops. Doesn't hide the booze well, but I don't mind it.

rennat42 (4430) - Ravenna, Nebraska, USA - JAN 27, 2021
UPDATED: JAN 27, 2021 Can. A- Caramel, tree bark, malt. A- Dark brown color, dark liquid, beige head. T- Malt, mild spice, woodsy, burnt toast, subtle alcohol. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, balanced finish. O- Not sure on this one. Honestly not a lot of flavor that stands out. What does birch even taste like? Okay beer but not complex or outstanding.

voyageurmike (1001) - Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 18, 2020
UPDATED: DEC 18, 2020 Pint can, poured dark ruby brown with tan head. Full bodied. Chocolate and maple aroma. Chocolate taste upfront, licorice in the middle, then birch flavor hits at the finish with some booziness.

malibrat (850) - Pula, CROATIA - AUG 26, 2020
UPDATED: AUG 26, 2020 Iz MAS Plenuma Rijeka. Sladna i likerasta aroma suhog voća i bačve...skoro ko neki Barley Wine.

ophone (1379) - LUXEMBOURG - AUG 20, 2020
UPDATED: AUG 20, 2020 Reddish black with a firm, frothy head. Malty, syrupy smell with a hint of peat. Smooth, sweet taste, very malty with a coffee note and a bitter aftertaste.
