UPDATED: JAN 6, 2022 meh. this one has a very light flavor, so it definitely feels closer to a 5% IPA than 7.7%, so that's nice. but it's just kind of bland. not a lot going on other than some weird effervescence. a rare miss for me from Sierra Nevada.

UPDATED: JAN 5, 2022 Wegmans can. Gold, mostly clear with a large off-white head and lively carbonation. Melon, tropical fruit, sweat, light citrus nose. Citrus peel, melon, tropical fruit, resin. Strong flavors, decent, but not great.

UPDATED: DEC 31, 2021 Last beer of 2021, starting in early at nearly 3pm on Dec 31st. FIrst, why are there so many beers called powder day? That kind of doesn't make sense. So in 2021 this will be my 59th beer, not really a world beating pace but I'm not even trying anymore. Just rating beers as they come, and December had more beers even than anticipated, I was actually going to not drink much at all this month. But let's keep it going, and with my favorite brewery. I'm a little hop fatigued though so I guess we'll see what I think. I'm pouring the can into a nonic pint glass that I got at Ikea about 20 years ago, its the last survivor of the set and remains a good glass for drinking just about any English-derived ale style, esp IPAs and pale ales. This one poured with what looks like a light chill haze over amber, with a modest foamy head. The citrus hop nose was detectable from across the table before I even put my nose in the glass. Its definitely pungent up close with full citrus hops. There's a hint of pine resin in there too. Fairly balanced with a strong citrus and resin hop flavoring to go with a clean bready malt. I'd say it feels balanced in sweetness, neither semi-sweet nor semi-dry, but leaning to the semi-dry side of things I guess. Decent lingering bitterness. So yea on the whole this is a class SN hoppy beer, clean, well constructed, nice hop profile, and surprisingly drinkable for 7.7% so I guess I'll slow it down until the evening comes! Long lingering aftertaste reminiscent of chewing on lemon or grapefruit rind. But I was serious about the hop fatigue and so I'm not entirely sure how to rate this. 2 or 3 years ago I'd rate it high 3.0s, probably a 3.7 or 3.8 but that citric bitterness (that is becoming slightly soapy and or coriander-ish after awhile) is just not hitting the spot.

UPDATED: DEC 29, 2021 Ever so slightly hazy golden and straw yellow coloured body with a relatively thick, two to three centimetre tall, soapy, almost pure white head that stays afloat nicely. Aroma of bright grassy and very herbal hops with a touch of resin and pineapple, with a lot of alpha acid bitterness in the nose, at least. Medium-bodied; Strong herbal and very grassy flavours from the hops come out at first with a nice bitterness from the hops and seemingly enough support from the slightly biscuity and bready malts with some yeast notes on the finish and a solid bitterness throughout. Aftertaste shows some grassy and perfumey characteristics from the hops with a solid bitterness that hits nicely near the end with a lot of grapefruit and lemon notes at the end as well and some moderate malts to provide balance, all ending with a good level of sweetness. Overall, a solid IPA that hits nicely and has a good bitterness, while being relatively easy-drinking and complex, especially for the style. I sampled this twelve ounce can, purchased from Whole Foods in Charleston, South Carolina on 28-December-2021 for US$1,79, sampled just a few hours later in my hotel room here in Savannah, Georgia on 28-December-2021.

Mr.Spooks (4080) - Tennessee, USA - DEC 27, 2021
UPDATED: DEC 27, 2021 Solid, hefty, winter-strength IPA, with a solid dose of orange marmalade, pine, caramel, citrus zest, and peach, finishing with a resinous bitterness. Surprisingly strong hop bomb. Good pint.

wlajwl (10859) - Quad Cities, Iowa, USA - DEC 22, 2021
UPDATED: DEC 22, 2021 Aroma is citrus, piney hops and a good hint of syrup sweetness. The flavor is fruit/citrus, toffee, malts and a slightly syrup sweet/piney hop finish.
