Svesse (12015) - Hässelby, SWEDEN - DEC 6, 2020
UPDATED: DEC 6, 2020 (Can) Amber colour, slightly hazy, with foamy off-white head. Malty, hoppy nose with resin, orange peel, pineapple, apricots, caramel, treacle-toffee and alcohol. Fruity, hoppy taste with notes of resin, orange peel, grapefruit, pineapple, apricots, honey, syrup, caramel and a boozy finish with a generous resiny, citric bitterness. Almost full body, sweet. Rich and hoppy, but quite unbalanced. A bit boozy, sharp and aggressive. Still, quite nice.

UPDATED: MAY 15, 2020 Resiny chewy imperial IPA. The 10.5% is evident along with the 115 IBUs. If you like big motherfucking beers, then this is right up your alley.

It pours a somewhat cloudy dark orange with a slightly off white head. Head retention is good There are strong notes of stone fruit that is a cross between peach and apricot. There is very low grainy sweetness in the background. The flavors have a heavy stone fruit peach and slight apricot flavor. The is some alcohol notes in the flavor as well as some grainy sweetness. There are also so low piney notes. It has a moderately full body with a bit of syrupy texture to it. The bitterness is quite high, but is offset somewhat by the grainy sweetness. Overall, there are plenty of stone fruit flavors and bitterness that take center stage with the alcohol being rather smooth.

12 oz single skinny can from Lifesource Natural Grocer in Salem OR. $2.39 11.1% alc POurs a pretty hazy blood orange colour with a small persistent white bubbly head. Aromas of bitter marmalade oranges, booze and spruce/pine tips. Bitter sweet orange and hop taste, pine an spicy..alcohol. Mouth feel is rather low carbonated and gets sticky in the eh end. Not really my type of beer..heavy, alcoholic and sweet.

On tap at Bar Harbor Beer Works. It poured a hazy copper color with a white head. The aroma was of hops, grapefruit, pine and citrus. The taste was similar to the aroma with more hops, grapefruit, pine, citrus and medium carbonation with a nice bittersweet aftertaste. Good stuff.

I have to say, 2018, 11.1% according to the can. But with that said, the four pack came from the newest best craft store in the Permian Basin located in Odessa. I sip from the unusually shaped 12 oz can before pouring into a tall tumbler. Smell, I have to pass on that, one of those nights. The taste though, holy crap, different, good. pineapple, tropical fruit, forwardly bitter, hoppy yes but not a bomb. Not sessionable in my mind, one to drink, go on to something else. Somewhat unusual but really nice. I will seek out later Life is good.
