COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Smuttynose IPA is a physical salute to the glory of the American hop grower. The citrusy hop flavor coming from a mixture of Simcoe and Santiams is pleasantly balanced by a smooth bitterness from the Amarillo hops. The beer itself is light bodied and crisp with a golden color that will throw a slight haze, as we bottle it unfiltered. At 65 IBU’s, this is definitely not a training-wheels IPA, but is meant for hop lovers looking to satisfy their craving in a way that’s not easy to find. We think they’ll be quite pleased.

UPDATED: FEB 4, 2021 Finestkind IPA has a medium, white head, a translucent gold appearance, with splotchy lacing, and lazy bubbles. The aroma is of piney hop resin, white bread, and a touch of fruit. The flavor is similar, with robust bitterness. Finestkind has a medium body and a mostly-dry finish. RJT

UPDATED: DEC 7, 2019 Typically the same taste as all other IPAs, but I gave it a shot. Awesome look, good smell, but not such a reflecting taste I could appreciate.

UPDATED: MAY 27, 2019 Fruity flavors with a strong bitter finish. Not the best IPA I have had but not a bad one. A little bit above average. That is about it.

UPDATED: JUL 13, 2018 Pours clear orange Amber body with off white lace top. Aroma is herbal hops and biscuit pale malt. Taste I S firmly and crisply bitter. Palate is medium bodied oily textures average carbonation and a bitter finish. Quite a traditional ipeg by craft standards. But refreshing.

The FinestKind IPA is a New England IPA before New England IPAs were all the rage. It's a got a great hop profile and a nice relaxing mouthfeel.

Bottle from a grocery in Manhattan. Slightly hazy golden with small white head. Some citrus and caramel, fruits. Bit mild carbonation. Pretty good IPA.

I was expecting a little bit more from this, but overall a decent IPA. Reminded me more of a hoppy/bitter pale ale though. The appearance was very IPAish, the typical light to medium cloudy orange. But, the aroma and flavor seemed to lack those nice piney and citrus tones. The hop was there, thats for sure, but more the bittering kind versus the citrus. I'll probably pass on this in the future with so many other stuff around. (Just read more reviews about the citrus being there and funk mentioned his bottle may have been bad. I grabbed a single of this from the "out of fridge" section, so maybe I'll grab a cold one next time to give it a 2nd chance. Also just noticed the bottle said best before Jan. 2010, so will try a fresh one next time.)

UPDATED: JUL 31, 2018 Found in single bottle from Ingles. I'm wondering if I just had an old one as I was not impressed. I didn't get the heavy hop anything; aroma or taste. I would be willing to try it again but for now this is the rating I have to give it as it fell below middle of the road for the style for me.
