Draught at the brewpub. Pours hazy gold with a white head. Smells of resiny pine, some chewy citrus. Tastes citrussy with a sweet resiny finish.

On draught at the Charleston, SC brewpub. Listed as Southend Galaxy IPA on their menu. The description on their website is the same as what is listed here, so I am posting my rating under this listing. Arrived at the table a hazy gold with a thin-moderate linen white head that faded to a ring after the first quarter of the glass and left spotty lace. Very pleasant aroma of pine with some grapefruit notes as well. The flavor is pine with some pithy grapefruit bitterness that lingers on the palate beyond the swallow. Enjoyable.

GeneralGao (3614) - Iowa City, Iowa, USA - MAR 21, 2006
Draught at the brewpub (Raleigh, NC location). Clear copper color with thin whitish head. Flowery hop aroma and flavor with moderate bitterness. Slightly malty, but no real sweetness. Some alcohol at the end. Decent, not great.

Draught. Amber color, very hazy, with off-white head. Aroma is very hoppy, citrus and pine. Flavor is similar with a decent amount of malt. A good dose of alcohol in aftertaste too.

This one pours deep copper/brownish with medium, off-white head. The aroma is very hoppy, with some fruitiness and peppery notes. The palate is medium, and gets more bitter as it warms. I’d like to see more malt presence here, as it fell off a little as it warmed. Still, a great first attempt at this style by Southend.
