COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Double Milk Stout "2 varieties of hops & 3 types of malts" Milk stout, also called ‘cream’ or ‘sweet’ stout, is a stout containing lactose, a sugar derived from milk. Because lactose is unfermentable by beer yeast, it adds sweetness and body to the finished beer. Milk stouts have been claimed to be nutritious, and were marketed as such in the early 1900s with claims that would make the FDA wince. One ad read, “Ideal for nursing mothers, for the healthy, for the invalid, and for the worker.” Surely! Of course, we couldn’t stop at a traditional milk stout. Ours is a double, an addition to our 2X line, and at 7.5% abv is every bit as delicious as it sounds. To your health!

Funknmilla (781) - WAYNE, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 1, 2020
UPDATED: JAN 1, 2020 12oz bottle... black as motor oil with a brown head that drips into a dotted lacing on the glass. Dark baking chocolate on the sniff and palate. Its rich and smooth but not heavy, especially for a 2x. Silky with a bitter finish. Good stuff!

McGarnigle (729) - Rochester, New York, USA - OCT 19, 2019
UPDATED: OCT 19, 2019 Bottle. Rich, roasty stout, big ABV but not quite syrupy. For a milk stout, this isn't as creamy and sweet as I'd expect. the roast (and perhaps some hops) makes it more bitter. Still a good beer, but didn't blow me away given that it's an imperial/double beer.

Taste is bitter malty coffee with lots of mily chocolate flavors. Decently sweet with moderate coffee bitterness. Palate is medium thickness and decently heavy w/ dry finish. Overall, a solid, warming milk stout. Nothing blowing me away but it delivers as a sweet stout!

Jabah (2479) - Fairfax, Virginia, USA - APR 3, 2019
UPDATED: APR 3, 2019 This wasn't all that I thought it would be. Flavor seems more like a dry/bitter stout vs. sweet/milk. Maybe a darker chocolate that they use, or just off-balanced a bit. Drinkable, but not really what I'm looking for in this style. Glad I only sampled a single vs. buying a 6-pack.

BelgianBeerGal (5522) - Panama City, Florida, USA - APR 15, 2018
UPDATED: APR 15, 2018 Draft at Fishale. Really tasty and I swear I got some coconut from it. The lactose pushes the sweetness up but also keeps it smooth. Very enjoyable.
