When Phin and Matt sat down to collaborate on their new beer, they knew it had to be different if they were to call it extraordinary. "Let sprinkle it with fairy dust and wave our magic wands," said Phin. "No way," said Matt, "We’ve got to do better than that. This beer has to be better than any other in the galaxy." "Let’s do some market research." So the two strapped on their rocket pack packs and traveled to the intergalactic beer store. After sampling an array of beers from acrossed the galaxy, the duo hit on an idea. "I’ve got it" exclaimed Matt, "we’ll use vast amounts of whole hops, the finest malt, and put a little more love in every batch." "Eureka!" shouted Phin. And thus became a beer so fresh and tasty the duo put their names on it. 37 IBU’s, 5.6% ABV

Southern Tier, Pittsburgh, draft. Yellow and clear. Juicy Fruit gum, but less sweet. The malt is there. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Nothing really "extraordinary" on this one. OK for an APA, but there are better out there. The flavor is decent, a little rusty on the mouthfeel, but I like the hops that they use. There isn't much aroma and is bordeline skunky. Was my first introduction to Southern Tier, and looking for something better on my next try....I hope.

From Apr 2008 I got this in a trade with Wasatch. Thanks John! This pours a clear amber gold with a 2 finger head of foam. It turns slightly hazy when I poured the rest in my glass. Nice head retention and there's some good lacing. The smell is very malty with notes of caramel and biscuit. I have to really try to get any hop character from it but it's there...a little bit of orange citrus. The taste is big on the biscuit with some roasted notes and some hoppy citrus by way of orange, pine, and a touch of grapefruit. Overall, the flavours are kind of unusual but they work pretty well together and I could see myself drinking more than 1 at a sitting. Mouthfeel is medium and the carbonation is lightish. A good APA here with the hops definitely playing second fiddle for me so it's almost more of an English PA to my tastes.

12 ounce bottle. Amber orange color topped by a rocky white head and amazing lacing. Fruity malt nose hints at Valencia oranges. Some light caramel as well. Crisp, tangy malt notes. Hints of orange and brioche. Light dry hop finish has grassy hop notes. Well balanced ad easy drinking.

An adequate beer not as hoppy as one would assume Stll goes down fine and the price is right ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

UPDATED: AUG 4, 2017 Draft at Macs. Very fizzy orange gold pour with a white head. Soft pale malts. Navel oranges. Honey herbal cough drops. Hint of rotted peaches. Bit soapy. Nothing really special.

Poured into a nonic pint glass, the appearance was a soft copper color with a slight transparency about it. Carbonation could be seen rising at a good pace. Just a cap of a little white foamy swiftly dies off. Stringy lace. The aroma had some soupy sweet fruity hops, slightly bitter, but having a balancing malt bill. The flavor was moderately sweet through the blend. Caramel malts sturdy themselves a bit further down the lane to follow through on the aftertaste and ride into the finish. The palate was about medium bodied with a fair sessionability about it. Carbonation felt fine. ABV felt fine. Overall, pretty good APA, a bit old school, but I’d have again.
