kepano (310) - Los Angeles, California, USA - JUL 15, 2020UPDATED: JUL 15, 2020 Orangy gold pour, nice simple head. Smells exactly like saffransbullar. Like, exactly. And that’s pretty much the whole thing. Some minerality to it. It smells too simple. The flavor is a bit more interesting, but not by much. Again saffron is the dominant note, with the tingle of sour green apple candy on the tip of the tongue. Dry apple cider notes in the aftertaste. Sour + saffron is not a combo I would have expected, and frankly it doesn’t work great. It lacks the complexity and funkiness I seek from a good gueuze. There are many better ones out there.
