COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask: Regular. Also available brewery conditioned and cold filtered in 500ml bottles.
Hops: Challenger and Goldings.
This fine beer is a blend of a mature old ale with a younger light beer - just as a true Porter should be. The marriage produces an extremely characterful brew which is dark in colour and complex in taste.

UPDATED: JAN 2, 2022 Bottle from Beers of Europe. Black pour with small beige head but with a fairly fizzy carbonation so head doesn't dissipates after a while. Inviting aroma of roasted malt, berries and liquorice. Flavour wise the roast and liquorice is at the forefront with a raisin and blackberry fruitiness giving it balance. Very dry finish with hints of coffee. A little light in the body but as its quite rich this works well. Decent porter.

UPDATED: MAY 30, 2021 Bottle - dark, near black with red tinge in light - slightly wispy beige head. Fruity, hints of cocoa and licorice aromas. Good mouthfeel - thin finish. Strong tasting - big notes of fruit with light smoke and licorice at end. Easy drinking porter - not overly sweet.

Martinsh (1348) - Crewe, Cheshire, ENGLAND - APR 27, 2021
UPDATED: APR 27, 2021 Bottle – gift from my brother. Has a strong nose of cocoa, raisins and fruitcake. Pours a dark reddish brown with a decent foamy cream head. The creamy texture is the first thing to be noticed in the mouth. Quickly followed by a tartness that gives raisins, rotting fruit and liquorice with hints of alcoholic strength. Fairly sweet and malty though despite what I’ve just said. Finish is fairly sweet with chocolate and some fruit. A pretty good solid porter.

DraftPupil66 (429) - - MAR 17, 2021
UPDATED: MAR 17, 2021 50cl bottle from online store. Pours an almost black, dark clear brown with some red reflections under light - head is a creamy off white. Nice light aromas of roasted malt, licorice, herbs, raisins, dark fruits, coffee. Light bodied and easy to drink. Taste follows the aroma with quite the same flavours without being too strong tasting, is very drinkable and more sweet than it is bitter. Also chocolate, coffee taste. Slightly smoky tasting, also on the nose. Finish is quite a bit spicy and kind of dry with but again not much bitter. Would get it again good enough and makes you want to drink more.
