UPDATED: SEP 3, 2021 Bottle. Poured clear brown color with an average frothy tan head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate toasted malt aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Moderate sweet flavor with a moderate sweet finish of short to medium duration. This is a soft beer.

UPDATED: AUG 28, 2021 12 oz. bottle from Tmoney. Pours a clear amber color with a medium sized off white head. The aroma and flavor have toasted malts, caramel, light fruit, nothing bad but not much to get excited about either.

UPDATED: JUL 17, 2021 Nutty caramel malt and fresh hay aroma. Dark amber with small head. Lightly sweet nutty caramel malt, and mildly bitter hay flavor. Okay body.

UPDATED: JUN 7, 2019 '12 ounce bottle from the brewery, 5/29/19. Clear copper, thin foamy tan head, good retention. Aroma of toffee, toast. Mild stone fruit. Taste is toasted malt, caramel, stone fruit, a bit of a tinny note. Medium bodied. Okay. '

UPDATED: APR 5, 2019 2/24/19. 12oz bottle, six pack, from a random Kwik Trip in BFE Wisconsin. Dark amber pour with a nice khaki head. Malty aroma, caramel, a touch of dark fruits. Rich flavor, dough, toast, caramel, a hint of dark fruits, toffee. Not bad.

UPDATED: NOV 24, 2018 Bottle. The color was amber with a white head. The aroma was malty with notes of citrus, caramel and toast. The taste was mildly sweet.

Got in a trade with GreenBayBA. 12 ounce bottle into pint glass, bottled on 2/28/2018. Pours slightly hazy medium orange/amber/light copper color with a 1 finger dense cream colored head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of caramel, brown sugar, brown bread dough, toasted biscuit, and nuttiness; with lighter notes of toffee, roast, plum, pear, red apple, herbal, floral, grass, pepper, and yeast earthiness. A bit too fruity/yeasty aromas, but not overwhelming. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/bready/light roasted malts, light-moderate fruity yeast, and light earthy hop notes; with solid strength. Taste of caramel, brown sugar, brown bread dough, toasted biscuit, and nuttiness; with lighter notes of toffee, roast, plum, pear, red apple, herbal, floral, grass, pepper, and yeast earthiness. Light herbal, floral, grassy, peppery hop; and roasted bitterness on the finish. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready/light roasted malts and light fruity yeast/earthy hop flavors; with a nice malt/bitterness balance, and no cloying/astringent flavors after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from lingering hop/roasted bitterness. Light-medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready/grainy, and lightly sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is good. A bit thin, but not watery. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 4.7%. Overall this is a very good Scottish ale. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready/light roasted malts and light fruity yeast/earthy hop flavors; very smooth, easy, and pretty refreshing to drink with the lightly bitter/drying finish. Very flavorful for the ABV. Very clean and nicely rich malt complexity; restrained fruity yeast and balancing earthy hops. A very enjoyable offering, and spot on style example. Very minimal flaws.
