COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Hanscraft & Co./Stone Quince Essential Hazy Ale is a collaboration between Thomas Tyrell, brewmaster of Stone Brewing - Berlin and Christian Hans Müller the founder of Hanscraft & Co., who has been kicking out phenomenal German IPA’s since 2012. With this fruity-hazy NEIPA-inspired ale they help to restore an almost forgotten fruit to a new glory: the quince. The golden yellow, roundish fruit (which looks like a mixture of apple and pear) had gone out of vogue. Even a ripe quince would take so long to cook that you could easily travel from Berlin to Franconia in the same amount of time. The quince's fruity-tart apple-pear-citrus-flavor of the Hanscraft & Co./Stone Quince-Essential Hazy Ale, takes the meaning of juicy to a whole new level and delivers a skillful balance of a distinctive and complex hop profile. Tasting Notes Appearance: Super-hazy and creamy like a quince smoothie. Aroma: Fruity aromas of apple, pear and quince. Slightly pine needle note with a dank undertone. Taste: Mild, fruity, lots of quince, full-bodied, round and hoppy. Overall: This special-edition NEIPA-inspired ale that takes the haze craze to new heights with the apple-pear-citrus flavor of the oft-ignored quince fruit. Like a smoothie in a can, this creamy ale has a distinct and complex hop profile balanced by exquisite fruit tanginess. UPDATED: JAN 30, 2021 Tap (Koht, Tallinn) (5:2:5:2:10=2.4) Apparently a 'hazy IPA', but completely clear - hoorah for production quality, or just knowing what the fuck you're brewing! Pale gold. Slightly acidic sour-grains aroma, starchy. Taste is the sugar and starch of children's breakfast cereals. I want to scrape my tongue after this.

eduardovl (1820) - SWITZERLAND - NOV 21, 2018
UPDATED: NOV 21, 2018 500ml can served in an ordinary glass. Pours a cloudy orange color forming a big creamy head with good retention and some thin lingering lacings formed and left in the glass. Very fizzy carbonation and lots of chunks can be seen floating. Nose is sweet and fruity. Strong notes of tangerine, quince and pineapple. Notes of sweet pale malts. Slightly sweet upfront taste. Again, strong notes of tangerine, quince and pineapple. Sweet pale malts backbone. Grassy and very citrus bitterness. Good bittersweet balance. Not very persistent bitterness. Medium body and carbonation. Pineapple afteraste. Good drinkability. Great IPA. I didn't know that we could use quince on beers.... :/

bartlebier (4526) - Belchium im Biersgau, GERMANY - NOV 21, 2018
multiple 50cl cans, fresh and a few months old. Served at #What'sBrewing IV. - - A quince-essential autumn fruit that's starting to get rare from the several waves of rediscovery - good on Stone/HC to introduce it into German brewing. - - First can poured extremely hazy and murky with chunky UFOs - must be the quince compote mit Stückchen or a coagulating effect with the low-flocculating yeast...? Later pours didn't have this...temp/aging? - Ar: impressionistically fragrant, much like a few quinces in a bowl subtly perfuming the livingroom, ambient-style. Sweeter pear and then damp hop resins coming through. MF and flavours well-rounded, going on pectine-sweet of a stonefruit, mildly resinous IPA. Late sweet grasses and above par drinkability with a typical quincepeel bitterness joiing the gentler stewed orchard fruit sweetness without getting too soggy - even if there is a sense that something even more dialed-into NEIPA territory had been targeted.
