COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
When reading the name “Stone Cali-Belgique IPA”, “Cali” hints that it is a California style IPA, and this brew has an undeniable Belgian influence, indicated by the word “Belgique” (which is how Belgium’s French-speaking population says the word “Belgian”; the Dutch speaking Belgians say “Belgie”). We carefully selected a Belgian yeast strain that illuminates a fascinating new aspect of the beer that is otherwise quite simply Stone IPA.

The result is both completely new and different, while still being recognizable as a Stone Brew – and Stone IPA in particular. Think of it as an otherwise identical twin to Stone IPA that was raised in a Belgian culture. Literally.

330ml can share in 2017. Clear, deep golden. Aroma of Belgian esters, banana, cloves, grapefruit, resinous hops and coriander. Soft palate. Really nice mix of both the Belgian yeast elements and the west coast hop bomb.

UPDATED: JUN 19, 2019 10-07-19 // 330ml can brewed in Berlin. BBD 02 July 2017. Stored at room temperature. Nose is minimal oxidized sweetish. Taste is a bit flat. IPA body and yes a belgian yeast twist. Old flat hops in the end with a slight bitterness. Leaving a bready, light yeast fruity, minimal bitter finish. Unbalanced of course now.

rja (867) - BREDA, NETHERLANDS - MAR 4, 2019
UPDATED: MAR 4, 2019 Do not be mistaken: this is not a belgian style IPA, as is a pale ale or a triple with extra hop, reslulting is a rather sweet beer. This is stone IPA with a different yeast, giving diferent esters. What yeast did they use?

UPDATED: JAN 15, 2019 Bottle upon debut.
Pours a clear, brass-golden with a small white head showing moderately-low retention.
Fruity yeast with plentiful ester is a bit crude, a la Stone's Belgian beers. Hops are a bit brutish and piney-grapefruit-laden, a la Stone's beers. Not horribly offensive, but this is a difficult style to pull of to begin with, much less when you overhop the shit out of everything and your 'Belgian' yeast is rather crudely American.
In the mouth it's fairly dry at least, though with much less soft a texture than it could use to counteract the grapefruit and moderate pine. Fruitiness is rather insipid and light bubble gum and clove linger lightly amidst the strong hop character. Somewhat fizzy carbonation but no alcohol noted.
