COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A fermenting beer never slumbers. Consequently, there is always scattered activity tending our precious beers throughout the dark hours. In these late nights and wee hours that hallowed responsibility falls to the shoulders of the overnight Brew Crew. These brewing soloists brave the long nights, often alone, to do what needs to be done. Most areas of the brewery are dark or in shadows. Throughout the night the cellars resonate with the occasional knocking of expanding and contracting pipes. It can be a bit spooky to hear the brewery creak and groan as if possessed by a spirit randomly knocking about with a mallet. This IPA, liberally hopped with Loral, honors our intrepid overnight team by naming it after their mischievous poltergeist companion – the Ghost Hammer.

Drjohnrock (1072) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - JAN 9, 2021
UPDATED: JAN 9, 2021 From old notes. Twelve ounce can from Root Cellar/birthday gift from Mrs. Drjohnrock (thanks), tasted on December 7, 2019. Very hazy gold hue, assertive nose with lots of hops, strong well balanced bittersweet flavor with complexity. Another fine beer from Stone.

UPDATED: SEP 30, 2020 12 ounce can A brewery known for its hop driven beers once again hits the spot with an old school return to its roots. Rather than lactose, haze, or some other trick it uses raw bitterness to etch a mark on the palate. If this returns again I'd be happy to pick up a six pack. AROMA / APPEARANCE Pineapple, citrus, and bright floral hops pair well with peach flavored Jolly Ranchers to cool the air. The copper gold base hides under a thick ivory head. FLAVOR / PALATE Earthy pineapple, cantaloupe, and oaky hops scrub the tongue and mouth clean of residue. A balanced transition of melon dances into the finish of summer forest and mango. Robust and clean it does all that is asked and more. I wish more breweries would focus on efforts like this instead of chasing the latest trends.

bigcat03 (568) - Lincoln, Nebraska, USA - MAR 26, 2020
UPDATED: MAR 26, 2020 Can poured into a tulip glass. One gold with a huge, foamy off white head. Aroma has grapefruit, orange, and is very juicy. Initial tester is much the same with a little pepper kick and a bit of pine. Fades to a light, peppery bitterness. Full mouthfeel and lively carbonation. Great stuff!!

UPDATED: FEB 24, 2020 Can shared by Steve after Disc golf. Deep golden pour with a small, tight creamy head. Aroma brings caramel malts ith a light astringent edge. Taste starts with more caramel malts before turning to resinous, piney, juniper hops.

DeanF (9135) - New Westminster, British Columbia, CANADA - FEB 7, 2020
UPDATED: FEB 9, 2020 Musty hay aroma and hops, good foam on a clear gold body. Flavour is lager hops, floral even, a bit wet. Different and simple but definitely drinkable.

J_man (1166) - Tustin, California, USA - FEB 7, 2020
UPDATED: FEB 7, 2020 Cool white, gray and silver 12 oz. can from Total Wine. Pours a crystal clear medium yellow gold with a finely textured foamy white head. Aroma seems to be a combination of light creamy vanilla and cut grass. Sweet and bitter hit at the same time in the taste with a solid caramel malt body and a combination of grassy and citrus pith hop flavors. The bitterness latches onto the tongue and stays there. This appears to be a light bodied beer but it's actually got some heft to it. Finishes the way it came in with fading sweetness and building bitterness. Another tasty take on a West Coast IPA from the masters at Stone!

r464 (2785) - Earth, California, USA - JAN 21, 2020
UPDATED: JAN 21, 2020 Light with a white head. More crisp with fruit and citrus zest, less of a Stone IPA. Mildly hoppy and bitter through the finish.
