COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Stone Smoked Porter w/ Chipotle Peppers is a thing of spicy glory, with the just-right heat of smoked jalapeños (aka chipotles) that combines beautifully with the beer’s peat-smoked malt and roasty character. The idea came about in 2006 when Merchandise Manager Chris Carroll suggested we make a special "South of the Border Stone Smoked Porter" for Cinco de Mayo that year. One sip, and we were hooked!

UPDATED: JUN 1, 2019 From the backlog. Pours deep brown, tan head. Roasted malts, some chipotle, cacao, earth. Not too spicy, pretty basic.

On draft at Stone Anniversary Fest. Still smoky like the original with some heat added in. I prefer the original, but this was a pretty nice version. Heat in beer can be good after all.

Stone Smoked Porter - Chipotle is ok, but doesn’t live up to the rating. Nice dark pour with a off tan head. Aroma is light and malty. Taste is a little too sweet for the style and there isn’t enough kick from the chilis. Not much malt backbone and very little smoke flavor and chocolate notes. Overall, this one is a little disappointing.

Poured into a snifter. 4.5 A: Dark brown black color. Two fingers of creamy tan head. Retention is very good and a dense ring of lacing is left behind. 3.5 S: I’ve never been a huge fan of the base beer because the smoke is so freaking weak. This is no different. It’s there, just not enough. Light notes of chocolate and caramel. Mild-moderate roastiness. The pepper, I must say, is done quite well. It gives just a touch of heat, but more importantly a pleasant vegetal earthy pepper. Still, the nose is pretty tame overall. 3.75 T: Like the nose, the pepper runs the show. Just enough heat to get your lips tingling. Earthy vegetal pepper. Moderate roastiness with light chocolate and caramel. 3.5 M: Medium body. Good moderate carbonation. Clean and quite smooth. 3.5 D: I like this version of the beer quite a bit. If only they buffed up the smoke. ★ 883 characters DavoleBomb, Oct 17, 2014

The aroma is a little caramel, coffee and roasty. Pours black with light brown head mostly diminishing and good lacing. The taste is bitter. The body is medium, the texture a little thin, the carbonation lively and the finish long and bitter. Very good love the touch of heat.

It's their, already excellent, smoked porter with just the right dose of chipotle flavor. A little bitter and "charred" in the finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Drank on tap at the Penalty Box in Scranton in a fancy glass. Pours a nice dark brown color with very little head. Nice porter aroma no hint of chiles. Tastes delicious smokey, with a slight hint of the chiles! Delicious brew!!

22oz bottle from BD Camden, London. It pours a deep dark brown color with medium beige head. Aroma is big on roasty notes, malts, wood, green peppers, cocoa powder, light vanilla. Taste has more astringent bitterness, green peppers, mocha, vanilla, wood and ashes. Medium to full bodied with good carbonation. Overall, interesting and tasty

Aroma is smoky and peppery while the pour is a thick black color with a thin off white brownish head. Flavor is similar to a nice coffee porter with a hint of spiciness. delicious!

APPEARANCE - looks really dark to start, but it’s surprisingly light when held to the light. NOSE - initially chili pepper. Resolves to maltiness. FLAVOR - As the beer warms the chili peppers really come through. Great finish warm or cold. NOTES - perhaps the best chili pepper beer that I’ve tried.
