COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Summit Extra Pale Ale is not a beer brewed only for beer snobs. Just the opposite. It’s a beer for everyone to enjoy: construction workers, stock brokers, farmers, sales people, clerks, teachers, lawyers, doctors, even other brewers. Its light bronze color and distinctly hoppy flavor have made it a favorite in St. Paul, Minneapolis and the rest of the Upper Midwest ever since we first brewed it back in 1986.

UPDATED: NOV 30, 2020 Could be because I’m missing life in MN, but this was very excellent. I think it’s quality gets overshadowed by the fact that the craft beer industry has caught up to Summit.

felsenpils (250) - Sacramento, California, USA - MAR 29, 2020
UPDATED: MAR 29, 2020 12 oz. bottle. Pours a clear pale amber with a frothy white head. Good foam retention. Very clean aroma with a mixture of yeast esters and malt. The flavor starts off with the sweet malt, but is quickly followed by a significant hop bitterness. Good Pale Ale with no penetrating hop oil like you find in many others. With 49 IBU´s, this beer is a bit more intense than most of the ales that you find in the UK.

Medium body amd carbonation. Medium bitterness. Taste of sweet malt, toffee note s and hops. Nicely balanced english style pale ale.

PellicleChecker45 (0) - - OCT 3, 2019 does not count
UPDATED: OCT 3, 2019 The beer is neither too sweet or too bitter. It’s in the (almost) perfect middle. Ciule have more body but otherwise very good

PhillyCraft (11988) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 16, 2019
UPDATED: JUN 16, 2019 Backlog, bottle that pours an amber golden with a medium head. Notes are slightly oxidized: some toasty malt, metal, corn, caramel, and pine. Average carbonation on a medium body

Jabah (2479) - Fairfax, Virginia, USA - MAR 8, 2019
UPDATED: MAR 8, 2019 One of four samples from the 12-pack variety pack. Ho-hum for a Pale Ale/Extra. Balance is a little off, but overall decent flavor. Wanted some more hops. Light orange color with off-white head. Liked their IPA better, which actually seemed more like a hoppy Pale Ale, or what an 'Extra' should be.

Hiero (256) - Dallas, Texas, USA - FEB 25, 2018
This is kind of like a hopped up pilsener. If you are used to IPAs and want to back down to something smooth, lower alcohol, but with something that still has a little kick to it, this is a really good choice.

Nice drinkable beer. Not too hoppy, which is probably why I like it. Nice balance between the malts and hops.
