On tap at Tampa Bay Brewing, pours a cloudy dark orange with a small white head. Aroma brings out earthy and caramel malt, with resinous hops, and a touch of toffee. Flavour is intense, with a mouth assault of resinous hops and caramel malt. For something so intense, it’s not abrasive or harsh at all. Good stuff.

Pine. Candy sugar. Caramel. Clear copper. Off white thick foamy head. Great retention. Leaves a coating on the glass. Smooth and sweet. Caramel. A hint of earth. A hint of pine. Hard candy. Very nice. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draft to taster at Tampa Bay brewing at 10.2%. Pours a clear dark golden color with a small off white head. The aroma and flavor have sweet malts, caramel, herbal notes, some moderate fruit character, alcohol, decent enough.

Cloudy red with an off white foam. Malt nose and only hints of caramel. Good body and alcohol balance.

Pours cloudy orange-amber with a substantial off white head. Aroma is sweet & slightly muted grains. Taste is hop forward with some syrupy sweetness up front. The hops take over after that with a not-quite-citrus fruit quality and stark bitterrrrness that goes to a lengthy finish. Definitely an American style barley wine.

On tap @ Tampa Bay Brewing. Copper in color with a thin ring of white foam. Sort of on the boozy side and, of course, quite sweet. Plenty of caramel, brown sugar, and toffee. Big time gold raisin fruitiness, too. Maybe a hint of cotton candy? Light floral and woody/herbal hops. Not a winner for me.

Draught at brewery. A bit of a boozy pour. Sweet with caramel and brown sugar. Orange body.

Draft at the original Tampa location. Clear ruby color with tiny head retention. Aroma is candied dark fruits, thicker caramel and a hop I can’t really place my finger on. The body is medium and the best from the sampler so far. The flavor has a huge amount of candied fruits. Sugar coated grapefruit, raisins, plums, with a mild floral type hop. Nicely done.

Dogbrick (17956) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - JUL 27, 2014
Sample at the brewpub. Dark amber color with a thin white head that recedes quickly. Spotty lacing. Aroma of malt, caramel and fruity hops. Full-bodied with flavors of caramel malt, ripe fruit and earthy hops. The finish is syrupy with a grainy malt and fruit aftertaste. Decent overall.

Clear copper pour with no head. Aroma is non existent. Taste is dark fruit and Brown sugar. Syrupy.
