COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This varietal of our Black Tuesday imperial stout is blended and fermented on the skins and must of 100% destemmed Napa Cabernet Sauvignon grapes from the Yountville American Viticultural Area of Napa Valley. After maturing for nearly a year in French Oak puncheons, this release - packaged still in a special, corked and wax-dipped bottle - vanquishes the boundaries between wine and beer in a full-bodied forray with notes of cocoa, berries, cassis and soft tannins.

Bottle. Pours a vinous deep purple to black... Aroma of dark chocolate, dark fruits, currants, Cabernet grapes, earth, French oak... Flavor has some subtle chocolate notes, but overwhelmingly resembles a Cabernet wine, lots of dark vinous notes, black currants, raisins, oak on finish... Solid for what it is, but not really my jam ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

UPDATED: JUL 10, 2020 Poured from a 2016 vintage, 750 ml bottle. Aroma is a fairly balanced mix between Black Tuesday and a Cab Sauvignon. Moderate chocolate notes with lighter roast notes. Moderate red wine notes. Moderate oak and tannins with medium light alcohol notes. Notes of berries, cassis, cherry, leather and tobacco. Pours dark brown with red hues and a medium sized, thin, reddish brown head that recedes quickly and disappears. No lacing and long legs. Flavor is slightly sweet with a dry finish. Moderate notes of chocolate and lighter roast notes. Moderately strong red wine notes. Medium light alcohol spice. Notes of cherries, berries, cassis, tobacco and leather. Quite a bit of oak and tannins. Moderate bitterness. Mouthfeel is full bodied with almost no carbonation. Low astringency and medium low alcohol warmth. Overall, an alright beer but I am not a big fan. I like Black Tuesday and I like Cab Sauvignon, but together it's just got too much going on. It finishes a bit too dry, thin and astringent for the ABV which I think may be the problem with it.

UPDATED: MAY 11, 2019 Bottle from membership. Clear brown pour with no head. Aroma of oak and wine. French oak and wine flavor. Not detecting anything resembling a beer, aside from carbonation.

UPDATED: MAR 15, 2019 750 ml bottle shared by djohanneman - thanks again, Dave! Pours a deep, dark burgundy color with no head, leaving some legs in the glass. This is basically a deep, rich, earthy red wine, a little boozy and with some sweetness, but otherwise without a trace of Black Tuesday influence. Some wood and vanilla. Medium-full bodied, with low carbonation and a rich, vinous, earthy, warming mouthfeel. Not an imperial stout; the hybrid leans all in to the wine. Most of my friends absolutely hated it. I thought it was okay. Probably had to do with expectations going into it, and mine were low.

UPDATED: FEB 18, 2019 Deep burgundy colour, no head. Looks like an unusually ink-dark red wine for all the world. Wine, vinous, vintage port, incense, with pine and resin representing the beer vector. More incense, pine, resin and a flavour reminiscent of Banyuls fortified wine. But the balance is out of this world. Very well bodied without becoming thick, undercarbonated, but one can really feel the most. This is phenomenal, even if it is definitely more wine than beer.

UPDATED: DEC 7, 2018 750 ml. bottle sampled @ Trillium tasting. The bottle of this one is amazing, super thick glass, extremely heavy with a very deep cavity(? not sure of the right word) at the bottom, super solid, cool & very easy to hold sideways, clearly a wine bottle. Pours black with a deep red wine hue and no head. Nose is extremely thick red wine, extremely tannic, oak, red wine, wine-like alcoholic, oak, eartly. Taste is wine above everything extremely strong tannic, oak, red grape skins, extremely heavy red wine with an exceptionally thick bodied only in the back some Black Tuesday in the way of dark molasses,… Thickest red wine body ever. Feels like 80 % wine & 20 % Black Tuesday way different from Winefication which felt more like a 50/50 mix. Massive, massive Californian wine before anything beer. Impressive, very cool. Great wine.

Draft pour at Savor: An American Craft Beer & Food Experience 2018. Poured a dark, but clear kind of ruby red color, almost purple. Pretty much what you'd expect from a wine. Aroma was dark fruits, vinous, earthy notes. Dark fruits, plum, grapes. Light woody barrel notes. A touch hot, but pretty well masked. Like so many Bruery beers lately, this one barely tastes or looks or acts like what you'd expect from an Imperial Stout.
