one51 (1349) - - SEP 9, 2021
UPDATED: SEP 9, 2021 Can from Bierkiste. Dark dark brown with a small chocolate brown head. Smells of light soy, chocolate, pimento olives (what is with my sniffer?). Flavor is super chocolate, melting into caramel like the filling of a caramel-for chocolate bar. I definitely get the salt as well. Not as overly sweet as I had expected for such a beer: it's sweet but not overwhelming. Great mixture of flavors, really tasty dessert stout!

Alengrin (9649) - Gent, BELGIUM - SEP 1, 2021
UPDATED: SEP 4, 2021 Strong flavoured stout by what is likely the most prominent craft brewery of Croatia, can from Être Gourmet. Yellowish beige, thin and loose, open ring of mousse, quickly dissolving; black robe with thin wine red edges. Aroma of toffee, chocolate crisps, praliné, dry biscuit, fondant, cognac, vanilla, coffee, hints of molasses, dusty old liquorice candy, brown bread dough, leather. Sweet onset, raisins, candied dates, some ripe pear perhaps, very light porcini-like umami accent, finely tingling carb, rounded and oily mouthfeel; layers of milk-chocolatey, toffeeish and hazelnutty flavours constitute the middle phase, going from sweet to bitter and even roasty in the end though only gently so, while the saltiness of the salted caramel becomes ever more apparent. It fades again in the finish, though, being replaced by a dry cookie aspect which I suppose represents the 'chocolate biscuit' part, though not very convincingly so; the toffee and chocolate sweetness does linger on, however, through a light herbal and somewhat leafy hop bitter touch and lots of hot and peppery, whisky-like booze - too strongly so at this ABV, I think. That said, this is both conceptually and structurally a very solid, postmodern stout, somewhere in between pastry stout and regular (American style) imperial stout; if the alcohol had been better hidden, I would probably have enjoyed this even more than I already did.

Turboninja (2168) - Tampere, FINLAND - AUG 27, 2021
UPDATED: AUG 27, 2021 Tap@Konttori, Tampere, Finland. Strong, averagely balanced nuances of mocha, a bit of alcohol infused plum. Medium taste spectrum and medium/long aftertaste with dry dark fruits and some alcohol. Light/medium body with medium carbonation. Overall, bit simple without biscuit. Still, nice! 7 3 8 3 15
