COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Christmas Special. A vanilla and chocolate porter aged on French oak and rested on organic cocoa nibs and Madagascar vanilla pods. Like velvet on the tongue - chocolate, coffee and dark caramel - it pours heavy with a very thick, dominating head. The aroma is strong dark chocolate with subtle notes of coffee and vanilla. The lactose and vanillin (from the oak) beautifully round the flavours together. A little thin and bitter, like a porter should be, this leaves a slightly roasted coffee bean sensation. After swallowing this soft bitterness gives way to a long lasting vanilla coating on the palate. 15.4° Small caveat - each bottle (4100) has been hand tied and waxed by our brewery staff. You have to unwrap every bottle (like an xmas present) to get inside. ;) Malts: Pale Ale Malt Chocolate malt Beech Smoked Malt Lactose Caramalt Hops: Magnum Northern Brewer Perle 2013 Additions: 2.5 kg french oak 12kg Cocoa nibs 200 vanilla beans

Werckmeister (6298) - Vienna, AUSTRIA - MAY 1, 2021
UPDATED: MAY 1, 2021 0,33l can at home bought from Etre Gourmet. Canned 19.08.2020. BB 19.02.2022. black color, small coffee colored head. smells soapy, vanilla, bit medical, light chocolate, toffee, light smoky, bubbly. decent to nice smell. full body, soft carbonation. tastes earthy, bit stale, chocolate, soy sauce, ashy, leathery, toffee, peppery, bit medical (from the carbonation), light sweetness. finishes lightly roasty bitter with notes of soy sauce, medical notes and some toffee. hmm, pretty decent, just got this this week, this is probably a bit older then I would like. Rather heavy on the soy sauce, for me also too soapy / too much carbonation for a Porter. Vanilla rather subtle, also taste a bit oldish already. Overall still quite good, but not as good as expected.

jmgreenuk (16022) - Kuala Lumpur, MALAYSIA - APR 1, 2021
UPDATED: APR 1, 2021 330ml can from Farmers Bar, Puchong, Malaysia. Poured a clear medium brown colour with a mostly lasting frothy tan head. The aroma is roasty malt, light chocolate. The flavour is light sweet, light sour, with a light roasty, sour, herbal palate, Medium bodied with soft carbonation. The beer was mildly infected. For a chocolate and vanilla stout there was little sweetness. Disappointing that this beer found it’s way to market.

UPDATED: JAN 11, 2021 Canned, 330ml from the Beer52 Advent Calendar Day 14. Black with tan head. There was a thick, rich pour to this and easy, full head, an aroma of sweet chocolate. I cooked Lamb Shanks slowly in a gravy and this went perfectly with the sweet lamb. Rich chocolate and vanilla flavours, full, roasty malts. It was relatively sweet, but that was to be expected, some caramel. Rich and silky. Very good indeed.

UPDATED: JAN 2, 2021 A 330ml can, canned on 19th August 2020, but with a best before date of 19th February 2022. Poured into a Holy Mountain tulip glass. It was dark dark brown to black in colour with a two finger brown head that dissipated fairly quickly, but left some decent lacing. Aromas lightly roasty, chocolate, and cacao, with light vanilla notes. Tastes of light roast, lightly sweet, chocolate, chocolate milk, and light vanilla notes. Light to medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Overall, easy drinking with nice chocolate and vanilla notes.
