COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
During 2007, an alliance based on friendship and love of great beer between Thornbridge’s Head Brewer Stefano Cossi and Brooklyn Brewery’s Garrett Oliver led to the brewing of this refined strong ale which has been matured for over 18 months before being bottled. The collection includes the unoaked Alliance Strong Ale and two finished exclusively in fortified wine casks: Spanish oak Pedro Ximenez Sherry (PX) and American oak Madeira. We hope you enjoy this unique tasting experience

Bottle. Deep Amber/Copper in colour. Very vinous in both aroma and taste. Very Fruity; bitter citrus orange, marmalade, peel, raisins. Malty; sweet grainy malts, caramel, toffee, oaky, vanilla. Yeasty. Hoppy; grassy and piney hops. Alcohol very noticeable. Initially sweet, then bitter fruity throughout. Vanilla and oak increasingly evident in the lingering very dry finish. Complex, unusual. Nice, must try, beer! (2009-07)

At Belgrade Eighth Tasting, round two. Bottle. Thanks Mortlach! 2007 vintage. Very soft bubbly head, dark mahogany, woody, red-brown. More red fruity, some tannins. Lots of leather. Still. Lovely, I enjoyed more with red fruit than original.

375ml bottle shared at home. Deep amber-mahogany color a very thin foam than rapidly disappears. Aroma of dried fruits, raisins, caramel, sciacchetrà, oxidation. Flavour is sweet, caramel, toffee, raisins, some liquorice, very complex but a bit messy. Full body, no carbonation. I would prefer it if more refined.
