COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Are the flames that dance upon the heartland signs of destruction or rejuvenation? Are the ominous clouds upon the horizon signs of salvation or retrogression? Perspective is everything. Ours is steadfast upon passionately redefining the American lager. Brewed in collaboration with North Carolinian brethren Burial Beer Co and Sugar Creek Malt, this amber lager speaks vehemently to the terroir of the Midwest. Pilsner, Vienna, Munich and Maple Smoked malts were decocted for robust malt complexity. Fermented and lagered on yellow birch wood. Notes of sweet smoke, warm honeyed croissant, peanut brittle and the last cold night of spring. UPDATED: JAN 7, 2019 Bottle: Amber with a smooth, off-white head. Honey ham, caramel, milk scent. Flavour is smoked meat, earthy caramel malt. Bitter, then creamy, then sweet. Nice.

22oz bottle. Picked up as the collab was between two of my favorites, 3Floyds and Burial. Really unique and tasty beer - got better as I drank. Lovely

Bottle shared by Jack, thanks! Pours a clear amber with a hint of gold and a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has sweet grains and smoke with a bit of hay underlying. Flavor has sweet grains and light smoke with a bit of hay and straw backing.

650 ml bottle To stumble across a smoked collaboration from Three Floyds at a fair price is a great day. This one did not last long in the backlog and was soon cracked open to savor a top notch partnership. I wish I could try some Burial beers in isolation to see how their house styles meshed with Three Floyd's usual approaches. AROMA / APPEARANCE A rosy bronze base attacks the white head above until little remains. Cherry smoke, malt, and sweet caramel candy move upwards like smoke up a warming chimney. Scents of Southern style smoked ham only accent the rich texture. FLAVOR / PALATE Smoked ham diced with cherries tastes like a fall dinner entree. Sweetness permeates the corners of the mouth before the caramel finish takes full hold. The rich flavors do not end there as it lasts for a long time before fading slowly. Everything about this well rounded collaboration makes it worthwhile from the label to the companies involved to the beer within.

Draft to taster at The Pint Room. Looks solid; a transparent lighter caramelish gold with eggshell head. Smells of caramel, a bit of ale yeast, and a touch of smoke. Tastes like it smells, but less caramely and more smoky. Mouthfeel is medium-bodied. Solid.

22oz bomber. Pretty unique offering, manages to straddle both Maibock and Rauchbier simultaneously. Filtered, but deep amber body. Off- white respectable enough head. I'm not a big fan of the smoked wood chips or whatever, as they seem to impart a rather mild but unenjoyable burnt plastic tone. Bonus points for being, but probably better off without the maple and birch tones. OK.

Draft and bottle. Lightly hazy deep gold with a fizzy white head, diminishing. Aroma of sweet toasted grain, smoke, caramel, bread. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and lightly bitter. Medium body, watery/sticky texture, lively carbonation. Light smoke which is a plus for my tastes because it lets the other flavors through. Still, the beer hangs on the sweet side, even for a maibock.

UPDATED: JUL 18, 2018 Really enjoyable smoked collab. Roasted malts. Light campfire smokiness. A bit of fruitiness. Medium body. Good studf
