Original Review Year 2009: Bought a 4-pack of this earlier in the week. The guy who works at my retailer recommended this to me because I told him I was getting into Brown Ales. I really meant to say getting into "Indian Brown Ales", as I haven't had too many straight Brown Ales that I enjoyed. Newcastle always seemed about average to me, so when I popped open the first Tilburg and it seemed like Newcastle I thought I may have made a mistake. But with each day that I sample a new one (on my third now), it is growing on me and seems better across the board. Smoother, better malty taste, better balance on carbonation/mouthfeel. Tastes of caramel malts and honey, not much hops at all. Also has that different yeast smell/aroma that you find in a lot of Euro-brews. He said that this was his Brown Ale of choice, and it may become mine too until I find something better.

Draft to taster in a flight at Ei8ht Ball from notes. Pours a clear brown color with a small off white head. The aroma and flavor have toasted malts, caramel, brown sugar, a light nutty character, metallic notes, pretty basic brown.

Pours a brown/amber colored body with an off white head. Aroma is malty, caramel and light. Taste of slightly toasted malts, caramel, spice and grain. Watery to oily mouthfeel, soft carbonation, light body.

Originally sampled on 12/4/08. I had this one a long time ago and am finally getting around to rating it. Pours a reddish brown body with a mid sized cap. Aroma has some nuttiness, flavor is similar with the nuttiness but there is a sweet, slightly metallic taste. Overall i wasnt very impressed with it, but perhaps i should re-try it.

One of my all-time favorites. Really enjoy drinking it -- light, crisp, easy to drink. This is the one that got me into craft beer.

Brown color with a burnt orange color when held to the light. Small, but stable light tan head. Sweet malts and caramel, perhaps a touch worty. Quite sweet in flavor with a light caramel syrup. Touch of bitterness in the middle, with some light citrus. Unfortunately the sweetness overpowers things again. Finish has a touch of roasted malt. A very simple, sweet, brown ale. 8/10

Smagt på et værtshus, så der kan være ting der er gået forbi min næse... Den har en aroma af karamel, lidt kaffe og honning. Er lettere maltet. Har en let "krop" i smagen.
