*Old rating, best before 28/04/10. Waldfruchtjoghurt in Bier - komisch und viel zu süß-chemische Kombination. Die Säure aus dem Lambik fängt noch einiges auf, aber die ganzen E-Nummern und der Süßstoff im Bier machen die Sache nicht besser.

Alengrin (9649) - Gent, BELGIUM - OCT 21, 2014
Launched in 2007, tasted as Timms Woudvruchten. Deep purple red colour, a kind of dark lilac, with a creamy, light lilac head. Arrogantly artificial aroma of sugared yoghurt with fruit, candy, red berry jam, grenadine, fruit lemonade (ascorbic acid). The taste unsurprisingly is very sweet and cloying, grenadine-like, elderberry syrup, cassis, very sticky mouthfeel, yoghurty, no further tartness (or any kind of other ’lambicness’) discernible. Even worse than that Timms Kriek.

Bottle at Kulminator. Hazy amber copper pour, white head. Aroma is nice and fruity, lots of berries, syrupy cherry, blueberry, raspberry. Taste is sweet, fruity, very uni-dimensional. Palate is med bodied, sweet, light carbonation. Not a bad sweetened fruit lambic.

Bottle @ Kulminator. Hazy amber with a small persistent off-white head. Aroma is perfume and fruity with light caramel and hints of acidity. Taste is a tad old with perfume note, wood fruits (mostly berries), caramel and light acidic presence. Medium body. Moderate carbonation. This isn’t bad at all for that kind of lambic, considering the age and the it was probably not better (maybe worse) right of the gate. It’s drinkable enough that I could have drank a full bottle by myself.

Aroma feels moldy with some fruits and hints of hay. Flavour is odd and somewhat tart with berry juice, some fruit sugar and hints of mold. Not good.
