NikkTwist (4993) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 18, 2020
UPDATED: FEB 18, 2020 Draft at Bru Craft. Very dark brown/black pour with soft brown foam. Nice sweeps of lace. Aroma is a bit muted. Soured creamy dark malts. Baker's chocolate. Cold black coffee. Burnt molasses. Dark red/black berries. Currants. Vanilla. Toffee. The present sourness is profound but secondary to the thick dark malts. Unusual. Big but goes down easy.

Can to glass to mouth. Aroma is deep choco lovely. Deep dark black with small head that dies quickly. Taste is almost decadent and all chocolate. As it warms it shows off some complex dark malt notes of an almost tobacco and molasses. Pretty damn tasty.

On tap at the Fermentia. Opaque black pour with a creamy mocha head. Nice strong roasted chocolate malt, leather, some oats, espresso grinds, smooth and enjoyable with a moderate+ body and a mild carbonation.

Got to try the base only a week or two after getting to try the ras blackb vanilla version. Both were elite or close to it. Pretty much black. Great base - heavily roasted malt, deep dark and complex as expected. Notes of chocolate and nearly burnt malt. Very nice.
