75cl 2012 Vintage from Miorge 2013, annual Nomad, shared a Jan18 tasting. - Bref: successful mix of a highly attenuated, elegantly NZ-hopped Italian take on an English old ale. Elegant aroma of dried stone fruit and older jam (apricot, quince, grape) over thin caramel, boosted by white porto. Strikes a modern balance between just-right clean Maris Otter malt biscuit, jam and condensed hopoil fruits. Slight signs of aging land this international baby barleywine in its desired old ale style.

Pours dark amber with creamy tan head. Smells of malts, caramel, and hay come through. Tastes of malts, hops, bitter, caramel, and toffee. Has a creamy mouth feel and light carbonation with a malty finish.

75 cl bottle at Moeder Lambic. Pours hazy orange to brown with a thick, creamy and tan head. Aroma is solid hoppy, toffee malty mixed with piney hops. Bitter, toffee and dark roasted malty. Mild citric touch. Dark toffee almost chocolate. Lasting bitter and toasted dry malty into the far finish.

750ml bottle. Beer poured a dark copper brownish color with a light brown medium sized head, nice lacing. The aroma had a present roasted malt nose with some chocolate and vanilla notes as well. Touch of citrus hop aroma. The taste gives you a nice roasted malt character up front and is balanced well against a slight hop bitterness, pleasant. There are also notes of vanilla. After giving the beer additional time to warm up, the taste has more depth with some dark fruit notes, raisiny. Overall the beer is medium body, well balanced and easy to drink.
