Malty; roasty malts, chocolate, toffee, caramel, coffee, some smoke. Hoppy; piney resiny hops. Fruity; spicy grapefruit citrus. Nice balance; sweet roasty malts meet citrusy hops. Easy drinking; not aggressive. Nice Black IPA! (2011-08-02)

Murky dark brown liquid with a modest tan colored head and some lace. Grains, spicy rye, with grassy to piney hops in the scent. Strong hops in the flavors from the start, some sweeter toasted malt and spicy rye wander in and out. 9/11

tlind2 (1996) - Helsinki, FINLAND - JUL 29, 2015Draught@Tommyknocker, Helsinki. Deep brown color, tan head. Roasted malt aroma. Dry flavor with coffee, black patent malt. Medium-full body, medium carbonation. More of a stout than a black IPA, but not bad.
snoworsummer (9157) - baltimore, Maryland, USA - JUN 21, 2015Draft at Old C’s. Pours very dark brown with a thick creamy beige head. Smells like cookie malt, caramel, toasted, heavy pine hops, resin, light yeast, and grass. Tastes like a nice balance of bitter hops, sweet malt, and rye. Medium body and carbonation. Dry finish.

VastActiv (12835) - Oulu/Helsinki, FINLAND - MAY 22, 2015Tap at Tommyknocker, Helsinki. Colour is dark brown with small creamy white head. Aromas and flavours: Coffee, chocolate, hops and roasted malts. Very basic Black IPA. Very carbonated and fizzy.
Bendrixian (1515) - Canadiana, Ontario, CANADA - APR 10, 2015Black pour with pillowy head. Big hops and caramel some pungent hops. More caramel on the palate and really carbonated that makes the brew a bit spicy and peperry. Very good.
Chudwick (4684) - Taylor Mill, Kentucky, USA - APR 9, 201512oz bottle that was a little expired (best by Sept 15 2014) - Roasty for sure. Bitter but not overwhelming, just quite noticeable. Would love to try a fresher version. Slight bleh aftertaste.
