Jabah (2479) - Fairfax, Virginia, USA - JUL 18, 20189% ABV- For what this is, I think I may have preferred the regular lighter Maple Nut Brown over this. I remember liking the regular cause of the lighter body, and nice maple and slighty hoppy flavors. This still has all of that, but the heavier body and stronger alcohol content masks some of those flavors. This is more of a sipping or drink-slowly type beer compared to the "slam it down fast" type for the regular maple. Appearance is murkier and maybe a little darker. I only sampled the regular 4.5% one once, but need to try again I think. This 9% Imperial is still solid, but not one of my preferred strong browns of choice.
NikkTwist (4993) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 6, 2017UPDATED: NOV 6, 2017 Draft at Macs. Murky reddish brown pour with lasting fluffy beige foam. Thick medium-dark malts. rennat42 (4430) - Ravenna, Nebraska, USA - APR 12, 2017Bottle.
A- Chlorine, malty, mild coffee, slightly roasty.
A- Dark brown color, dark liquid, minimal beige head.
T- Malty, alcohol, iron, bitter cocoa.
P- Full body, thin texture, average carbonation, unbalanced finish.
O- Malty, boozy, and thin bodied. The maple doesn’t give any perceived flavor but just seems to add to the booziness. Not pleasant at all.
BeerBaboon (2259) - FINLAND - MAR 24, 2017Pours hazy brown with tan head. Aroma is chocolate, nuts and caramel. Flavor is heavy sweet, maple syrup and heavy bitter.
tmoreau (7963) - Lombard, Illinois, USA - MAR 14, 2017Cellared 12 oz. bottle poured to a tulip at home, showing a ruby highlighted, walnut color, with some fair persistence to the modest layer of tan foam, and dots & dashes of lacing. The nose presented touches of soy & molasses, toast, wood, & nuts, syrupy sweetness of caramel & maple, and some noticeable, but subdued alcohol presence. Medium bodied, with soft carbonation, the taste was similar, with a bit of earthy & slightly roasted bitterness, a touch of warmth, and an altogether mellowed but still fairly tasty result.
