COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
"Hofbrau" in German means "the brew of royalty." Trader Joe’s Hof Brau Bock is a fine example of the regal brewing traditions still found in Germany today. This outstanding bock is golden in coclor, very rich and moderately hopped. 22 IBUS. Brewed with three types of imported malts, Hallertau aroma hops and lager yeasts.

Reddish golden appearance. Light and sweet with a thick head. Mild and really cheap.

Honey flavor initially dry after taste. Not very hopsey. Bought it years ago backfill.

bottle at club w, reddish browning clear pour, funky aroma and taste, not a huge heller bock fan, but this one is decent, sugar, blah

Pretty watery bock but a good value for the alcohol. Go to GB and get their doppel on tap but this is a good value if your picking up beer while grocery shopping.

Weak aroma and oddly weak appearance (Gordon Biersch can do better). BUT, it is up hill from there. Quite nice on the palate for style and the lacing grabs it back a 1/2 point on appearance. Odd thin aroma that it removed from the flavor. Aroma just falls apart into bottom rung lager, but the flavor is pretty solid. Hard to rate for style vs. as a beer in my glass, but def. a solid contender. I also prob. paid about a buck for this bottle at Trader Joes, which works for me!

Generally I do not go for bocks. I still do not. Not a bad tasting beer but not my style.

Poured from 12 oz bottle from Trader Joe’s in Salem, OR. This is a light light bock that has trace malts, plenty of light citrus hops on the nose and initial flavor. Pretty smooth, thick billowy white head that disappears. Transparent yellow, Moderate carbonation, bready finish. 5.5 BD

12 oz. bottle. JosephsBrau label . Amber in color with small fast dissipating head, no lace. Aroma is sweet bread and light grassy hops. The taste has some light caramel along with hints of cereal grains. A bit on the bland side but still really drinkable for the price. $1.08 per bottle at my local Trader Joe’s.
