In short: An enormously sweet big stout with a moderate oak presence. For those with a serious sweet tooth.
How: Bottle 750ml, consumed with some age on it.
The look: Black body topped by a very large tan head with good retention.
In long: Nose is rich sweet black stuff (molasses, vanilla extract, etc.) along with roasted oak. Pleasant mouthfeel that offers the expected 11% brew super-full body but also a generous active carbonation, far from syrupy texture this beer is actually quite lively in mouth. Taste is monstrously sweet, the brutal sweetness of this thing is of Southern Tier or Cigar City proportion. Burnt vanilla cake, vanilla extract, distant chocolate, black liquorice, oak, ink, salty soy sauce, and a ton of sugars. An excessive sweetness without the richness sensation of good uber-sweet beers, sugars and more sugars. Nothing “bad” here, just really not my thing. I paid good money for this disappointing beer but I wasn’t able to feel any anger or sadness because Trent Reznor felt it all on the Downward Spiral album.

"Not a gusher, but based on the very prickly carbonation it may have been an off bottle (which makes me really want to try another since other than the feel it was pretty damn good). Hard to get over the pin-prick carbonation, but the aroma and flavor have a healthy dose of vanilla atop a chocolate and roasted malt background. only hints at 11%. hope to try again."

Sampled at 2011 RBWG. Pours near black with a thin beige head. The nose is roasted malt and a strange funkiness. The taste is coffee, roasted malt and light chocolate. OK.
