Bottle, picked up somewhere in Geneva. Deep reddish brown colour, off white foam. Smooth malty base, sweetish, hint of nuts, nice deep fruitiness from the dates. Touch of tartness and spice to finish. Pretty decent.

Bouteille 33 cl / Drinks of the World - Bern (CH). Bien.

Bottle from Drinks of the World. Pours dark brown, almost black. Aroma is liquorice, dates, chocolate, booze. Body is medium, light roast aromas, more dates, liquorice. Sodt carbonation, a bit oily. Palate is dates, lingering liquorice and roast aromas. Not so bad.

Long arrière goût pas désagréable.

Bottle at home. Clear brown, brown head. Biscuit, cream, coffee, dessert wine, milk chocolate. Roasted notes with light ashy, dates, chocolate, cappuccino.

Eye: pours a coke like murky brown color with a big lasting beige foamy head and medium carbonation. Nose: coffee, roasted nuts, raisins, dark malts, vanilla, cereal and yeast Mouth: coffee, earthy leafs, red currant (after second sip) and unfortunately just a bit watery Palate: roasted hazelnuts, herbal, earthy malts, redcurrant as well, starts to get dryer in the end Overall: nice porter with a lovely texture and a superb nose. Taste is good but nothing in comparison with the complex nose.

I bought this bottle at the drink of the world in Geneva. I drank in the hotel in Paris. In my point of view, it is a delicious porter and it is better to drink it not so cold to enjoy the ingredients. The body is brown and black, thin and white foam, normal carbonation. The taste is well balanced, roasted malt, bread and the dates, hop and there is a perfect mix between the dry finish and the dates. It is a nice porter, next one please!!!!

from Drinks of the World - quite clear and very dark brown beer with a poor head retention; pretty roasted chocolatey nose with notes of figs and dates; sweet and quite full-bodiued, aftertaste of vanilla, dates and roasted malts

Bottle from drinks of world. Aroma with roasted malt dried fruit and dark chocolate. Taste is rather light for 7% even a bit watery. Lacking complexity. But a nice sweetness from dried fruit combined with dark chocolate bitterness at the end.
