Gangstergafje (2697) - Capelle aan den IJssel, NETHERLANDS - DEC 20, 2018
UPDATED: DEC 20, 2018 20-12-2018; bottle; at home (bought somewhere in Minsk, Belarus). The looks of the beer are fine. The beer has a nice hazy yellow appearance. Kinda straw-yellow/brown colour; hazy, but not opaque; and with a thick frothy white layer of foam on top. Foam retention is white good. The thick layer of bough foam collapses only slowly. The aroma of the beer is okay-ish. The malts and grain give some straw notes, together with some bread and some interesting notes that must be the result of the buckwheat. It is kinda funny. Hops aren’t to strong. They give some notes of far away herbs. Yeast gives some slightly sour and tart notes. A bit barnyard. Also some honey appears to be there, but the honey seems to give a slight souring touch, what I sense with more honey beets. All in all, okay-ish at best. The taste of the beer is average. Sweet funny maltes, some bitter hope and quite some tart and slightly sour yeast notes. All in all, not the most well balanced beer. It is a tiny bit rough. The palate of the beer is avatar. Medium body, sticky slick texture and high carbonation. The finish of the beer is filled with barnyard tardiness and some herbal hops. All in all; an acceptable beer, but not worlds best.

UPDATED: DEC 16, 2018 Huge thanks to Erzengel for sharing! Looks really interesting. Beer in the glass zippy, small head. Starts quite malty, wheaty, grainy. Notes of some herbs. Finish more balanced, moldy-malty. Interesting.

Unique taste for sure, sharp and tangy, a bit too syrupy at times, with a flavor in between corn and wheat--not my thing, reminds me of breakfast food, but props for using local ingredients etc (16.9 oz bottle, gift, Lahoysk, BY)
