jandd1983 (6872) - Wentzville, Missouri, USA - FEB 16, 2018Bottle. It poured a brown color with a tan head. The aroma was of tropical fruits, malts and hops. The taste was similar to the aroma with more tropical fruits, malts, hops, pine and medium carbonation with a sweet aftertaste.
Tasty.

I got this bottle from joe1510. Thanks Joe!
It pours a hazy amber with a 1 finger head of foam.
The smell has big nose of piney hops but it's almost matched by the caramel malt. I wonder if it will be as balanced tastewise.
First sip reveals the answer. Yep, or just about there. The malty sweetness actually takes center stage but gives way to a nice pine hop flavour that works very well with the malt and gives a good no, very good balance. Ok, so forget about my comment about it being "about there". ;^)
Nice medium thick mouthfeel and the carbonation is lightly done. The finish is where the pine really shines and I'm not usually that big a fan of pine hop flavour! That's a testament to Tyranena's brewing skills.
I can't really say that I detect the alcohol(whatever abv% it may be) at all so I'll have to say that the drinkabilty is *very* good. A brief return to the appearance...the foam shrinkage during the session is very minimal and there's a ring around my glass after every sip. Cool!
I see that this beer is retired but I'm hoping that there's enough still left on the shelves for fellow BAs to find some. IMHO, this is one hell of a DIPA!!

DrSilverworm (11039) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - JAN 10, 201612oz bottle, thanks to Paul & Jamie for picking this up on their trip a few weeks ago. Didn’t notice a date on the bottle. Split with Chris R. Hazy, kind of darker amber color. Thin off-white head. Some ropes and bits of lace. Up front in the nose is dark fruit, fig, caramel, a touch of musty hop. Not the smell I typically associate with a fresh DIPA. Touch of citrus in the flavor, some herbal floral hop, but more caramel. Hint of chocolate? Moderate to bigger sweet taste, though not cloying. Mild bit of alcohol. Mild bitterness. Medium to bigger body. Kind of slick texture. Light carbonation. Full feel. Alright as it is now. Drinks kind of like a mildly aged imperial amber ale that once featured more citrusy DIPA hops.
