Aggiebob (3426) - Huntsville, Alabama, USA - OCT 5, 2021
UPDATED: OCT 15, 2021 Dark color pour with a quickly dissipating beige head. The complex aroma has notes of dark fruits and Belgian yeast. The taste follows the nose along with a toffee malty note. It is a bit boozy.

PilsnerPeter (3068) - Flushing, New York, USA - MAR 7, 2021
UPDATED: MAR 7, 2021 Bottle 2018 at Mosaic Cocktail Bar: Hazy brownish burgundy pour with a tan lacing head. Aroma has sweet dark fruits, spicy phenolics, fig and vinous notes. Lively mouthfeel. Flavor matches the nose - dark fruits and rounded sweetness balanced by spicy Belgian yeast qualities. Well masked alcohol. Very nice.

Headbanger (4457) - Aurora, Illinois, USA - APR 8, 2020
UPDATED: APR 8, 2020 750 ml bottle 4/7/20 (Binny's) National Beer Day 38° in Snifter. Pours dark brown with small tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, dried fruits, candied sugar, and spices. Taste of the same with a sweetness and slight alcohol on the back end. This full bodied brew is well balanced and hits the spot.

unclefrito62 (1737) - Stow, Ohio, USA - MAR 16, 2020
UPDATED: MAR 16, 2020 12 ounce bottle in Kent Ohio. Smell malt. Dark brown in color with beige head. Taste spicy and malty. Some clove in this also. Just a little off balanced but really good. Medium body and spice aftertaste. Really nice beer. Cheers!

WortStein17 (93) - Alberta, CANADA - FEB 28, 2020
UPDATED: FEB 28, 2020 Color is a dark brown with reddish highlights to it and pouring with a half finger of tan colored, finely bubbly head that had a poor retention to it that left only thin, runny lacing. Boozy dark rum aroma to it with a nice demerara sugar note to it along with a good amount of clove dominate spices to tickle the nose. First noticeable aspect is the bubbly, oddly high, amount of carbonation to it especially for a beer as dark and strong as this is, lots of dark fruit flavors forward with lots of golden sultana raisins, some hints of apples and figs with a sprinkling of dark demerara sugar and spices, like cloves, ginger, and especially nutmeg. Medium bodied though lighter feeling due to the bubbly carbonation present in it, with a body strongly flavored of dark black strap molasses with some hints of navy rum to it. Finish has little in the way of hops, but has loads of warm spice notes on the finish with some hints of cloves, ginger, black pepper, and red pepper flakes that combine with a nice boozy warmth on the after taste that leaves a satisfying lingering heat to it as well as a giving vague suggestion of cognac to it.

the sauger (383) - La Pocatiere, Quebec, CANADA - JAN 1, 2020

hman43 (3700) - Pinehurst, North Carolina, USA - MAY 25, 2019
UPDATED: MAY 25, 2019 It pours dark brown with ruby highlights. It has a dense, light brown head. Head retention is excellent. It is clear. It has spicy and vinous aromas up front. It has a strong, sweet malty presence with some dried cherry and sugary notes. It is rather spicy with some vinous quality. The spices are more pronounce in the flavor which is surprising since they are quite strong in the aroma. The spices take on a peppery sharpness. There are background notes of dried cherry with some sweetness from the malt. It has noticeable alcohol warmth. It has a medium full body. Overall, a very interesting take on a Belgian Dark Strong Ale with the balance towards the spice over the malty rich elements with the other flavors and aromas blending in the background.

Goodgrief (2546) - Middletown, Delaware, USA - APR 28, 2019
UPDATED: APR 28, 2019 Dark pour, small head. Caramel malt, licorice aroma. Candies apples, licorice, cherry. It would have been really good if not for the distracting weird spice flavor that others are calling nutmeg? Just ok.

solidfunk (16061) - Washington D.C., Washington DC, USA - JAN 26, 2019
UPDATED: JAN 26, 2019 Light cherry and a bit of tobacco. Florals. Pours dark brown with great head and lacing. Light and smooth sweet finish. Bottle.

ttoadee (3175) - Austin, Texas, USA - JUN 29, 2018
Dark brown pour, finger of tan foam. Nose is currants, banana, spice and dark malt. Middle is dark malt, candied brown sugar, stone fruit, cinamon, and a touch of nutmeg. Finish is warm and spicy. Another great beer from these guys.
