COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In November 1992 Maudite (the damned one), was the first strong beer to be distributed in Quebec grocery stores. Maudite is a mahogany-colored, rich-tasting premium beer that has a distinctive, complex taste. Because of the warmth it releases, this strong character beer must be served cool but not cold. Perfect with pasta, red meats, stews and spicy dishes, it also makes a good aperitif and after-dinner drink.
Maudite has a typically Quebecois name that is reminiscent of the legend of the Chasse-Galerie (the legend of the Flying Canoe). Legend has it that a group of lumberjacks struck a deal with the devil to fly home in their canoes, guided by Satan himself, to make it home in time for Christmas.
Gold medal winner in 1995 and 1996 and the Chicago Beverage Tasting Institute.

UPDATED: DEC 8, 2021 A bomber from BC Liquor stores in Greater Vancouver. A medium amber, bit of white head, nose of ripe fruits. Likewise, ripe, dried stone fruits, and lots of malt on the palate. Good stuff! Yeh, can’t help noticing this here’s rated #5 on Ratebeer Top 50 for Dubbel style. That’s a pretty solid ranking, though I’m not really educated on the style. I can, however, say it’s froicking delicious! Oh, and not to mention, very seasonal for early December! ❄️ ❄️ ❄️

Arbitrage411 (73) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 26, 2021
UPDATED: APR 26, 2021 Cloudy dark orange pour. Even 1 finger head. Active but laid back effervescence as off white head dissipates. Spicy, woody pine like or Forrest fresh aroma, refreshing as it activates the senses. Medium towards heavier hop tastes but not overly bitter. Restrained, gentle and the lacing stays with each gulp mirrors the genuine quality of this brew. The carbonation stays on the tongue after each mouthful. A yeast taste remains at the finish. Quality beer. Good value for it’s price point. This beer has legs. Now looking forward to the meal.

Saveurs: équilibré avec des notes prononcées similaires aux arômes et une sensation réconfortante d'alcool. Fine amertume éphémère en finale. Texture: corps mince, carbonation faible, bonne buvabilité. Caractère agréable.

SylvainCFC (741) - Brussels, BELGIUM - DEC 21, 2020
