COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Since its arrival in 1997, our Storm King Stout has enticed folks to “discover the dark intrigue” as its label suggests. While enjoying that great imperial stout, we have been intrigued by the myriad of flavors it exhibits, and encouraged to test the limits of perception and pleasure by adding to the rich experience of Storm King Stout. So here you have such a exploration, involving Storm King Stout aged in oak barrels that once matured Kentucky bourbon. Blended to perfection, this one is surely dark and intriguing!

750ml bomber: 2011 bottle, been sitting in the fridge for a long time. This one pours an inky black color. There was a small tan head on it. Nice nose. Lots of different aromas. Some bourbon, chocolate, vanilla, molasses, roasted malts and fruits. The taste is superb! Just a hint of the bourbon, very smooth texture. Hope they make this one again!

dagimp (1008) - Philly, Pennsylvania, USA - MAR 21, 2015
Bottled in November of 2011 and drank in March of 2015 so this has some age on it. Pours dark brown with an inch of head and zero lacing. Sweet bourbon aroma. Mouthfeel is moderate and slightly dry. No greasyness at all. Perfect amount of carbonation. Taste is dry with a decent amount of booze but no hotness to it. Bourbon is definitely present but not overwhelming by any amount. Some chalk and cocoa. The bourbon isn’t overwhelming at all, but then again, this is over three years old. I heard this was very boozy when fresh, which is why I cellared it for a while. Damn fine beer at this age. Good blend of an excellent Storm King and not too much bourbon. This is actually the first barrel aged Victory I’ve liked. For such a great brewery, the others were crap. (kind of a downer to end on but this is a really good beer)
