UPDATED: NOV 21, 2021 Bottle pour, dark brown. Light bodied, light molasses aroma. Notes of molasses, brown bread and a hint of dark chocolate.

UPDATED: OCT 16, 2021 Pours dark brown with a nice bubbly brownish head. Aroma - Malt. Licorice. Chocolate. Taste - Malt, brown sugar, chocolate, sweet taste.

UPDATED: OCT 7, 2021 Bottle from Beers Of Europe. Pours a very dark brown almost black colour with a medium sized creamy off-white head. Aromas of dry dark fruits, caramel, some chocolate, nuts, liquorice and brown sugar. Taste has all the same notes detected in the aroma, dry dark fruit, caramel, chocolate, liquorice and brown sugar. Quite sweet and syrupy. Fullish body with a fairly smooth oily mouthfeel. A rather rich but also sweet beer at the same time. Not one of my favourites if I’m honest but i appreciate it’s quality.

UPDATED: AUG 30, 2021 500ml bottle from Beers of Europe, Norfolk. This is the last of my big BoE German haul. Sigh. Ruddy brown and clear with a ring of beige head. Big stone fruit and caramel aroma, complex in a simple sort of way. Taste is sweet and sugary with a light bitterness following quickly on. Long finish of dates and molasses. Body's fairly weak for a doppelbock. But it's gorgeous. Special stuff.

UPDATED: AUG 26, 2021 (bottle 0,75l from delikatesy.online online shop) Overall: Very good. Pleasant sweet, not cloying. Aroma: Dried plums, sweet, caramel. Appearance: Dark brown color. Medium, beige head. Taste: Medium-very sweet, dark malts, caramel, light chocolate, dried fruits, later light alcohol. Palate: Medium body. Sticky texture. Soft roasted-dry finish.

UPDATED: JUL 7, 2021 Clear dark red-brown with a thick beige head. Malty aroma. Taste is sweet malt, distant roast, coffee, very well balanced.

UPDATED: JUL 5, 2021 Clear mahogany color a tan head. Aroma has notes of caramel and toast. Taste is toast and caramel, with roasty noted. A little light for the style.

UPDATED: JUN 18, 2021 Pours dark ruby brown, limited frothy white head. Aroma and taste are all dark fruit, bread malt and a touch of brown sugar, but this is never too sweet. Low carbonation. Delicious sipping.
