tombyars (2187) - Saltcoats, SCOTLAND - MAR 12, 2012Sampled this ale at the Last Post, Paisley in July 1999. Cask, handpump dispense. Clear amber in colour with a loose frothy white head. Slight citric notes in the aroma. Tasted like a very weak version of Burton Ale but sorely lacking in the complexity and range of flavours one would expect from this English brewery. Biscuit malt evident but metallic hop notes overpower any malt & fruit present. Astringent hops continue into the metallic finish. A poor session bitter.
bobinlondon (1298) - Harrow, Greater London, ENGLAND - JUL 6, 2009Handpulled cask at the Red Lion in Radlett last year. Amber with a thin white head. Although totally clear the predominant flavour was yeast and citrus hops were only just detectable. One of the poorest summer ales I’ve tried.
DJMonarch (9687) - Northwich, Cheshire, ENGLAND - JUL 30, 2007Cask Handpump at the Bankers Draft, Sheffield (JDW) 23/06/2007
Hop and fruit aromas. Golden coloured hoppy and fruity with some bitterness in a crisp and slightly dry malt finish.
Stopherbomber (111) - Christchurch, NEW ZEALAND - JUL 27, 2007knocked back a couple of these at the local wetherspoons the other night, not bad
leaparsons (12356) - Wigston, Leicestershire, ENGLAND - JUL 26, 2007Cask, The Lamplighter, St Hellier. Amber with a small head. Aromas are caramel malts with yeast and citrus. Quite soft in the hops. Flavours are sweet toffee malts with soft citrus and a gently hoppy finish.
Ethereal (2471) - Los Angeles, California, USA - JUL 23, 2007Pint at The Queen Adelaide, Wandsworth. Not very visually impressive - clear light amber with no head, but a nice aroma of hops and cut grass. Flavour is distinctly yeasty but the palate is reasonable and there is a pleasant cittrus aftertaste. Overall, a very refreshing summer ale that is better than the sum of its parts.
harrisoni (24178) - Ashford, Kent, ENGLAND - JUL 16, 2007Cask gravity at Bowl Inn, Charing. Gold colour with thin off white head. Some yeast, some lemon citrus aroma. Again, fine, just a little bland. Easy drinking. Decent lemon citrusy finish which lifts the whole beer.
MesandSim (7116) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - JUL 15, 2007A Mes rate:
Cask at Chelmsford Beer Festival. Pale golden yellow colour. Lemon and grapefruit hop aroma. Similar citric and fruity flavour. A little acrid in the finish. Dull.
cgarvieuk (34084) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - JUN 20, 2007Winstons edinburgh ... Golden amber ... soft hops ... fruity hop ... lots of hop resins ... little juicy ... some malts ... juicy bitter linger.
TheGrandMaster (2335) - Auckland, NEW ZEALAND - JUN 14, 2007Pint pulled at the (new) Spotted Horse in Putney (London), a clear light amber with a white bubbly head. A nice flowery hop aroma with a generous maltiness. A strong malt flavour and a light hoppiness. Though smooth, I found it a little grainy.
