Bottle. Orange color. Aroma: hoppy, tropical fruits with honey, pine, earthy notes, citrus, pineapple. Taste: mighty honey maltiness (not very fresh), strong hop bitterness, warming aftertaste, earthiness, pine, grapefruit, resin, raisins.

UPDATED: AUG 7, 2018 8/6/18 Had with A, Hannah, Cody and Chandler after they got in. Poured from can into a snifter. Deep brown with a moderate head. Nose has both citrus and some dank piney notes. Taste is surprisingly sweet and malty. Resinous hops and funky caramel malt. Fair amount of the weird, soured hop funk but only moderately bitter. Palate is medium with sweet funk lingering. Slow supper. Overall, this one isn’t really to my tastes as it’s big on that “sweet funk” hoppy flavor that I also get in Arrogant Bastard and Evil Twin Molotov Cocktail.

This is the first Weyerbacher I've had that stood out to me. A tasty solid DIPA. The aroma is very hoppy, not as strong as I thought it would be though. Appearance is a dark orange....almost a light to medium brown. Very cloudy and dense. Looks almost like apple cider. Flavor is a full hop bomb at the start. I also like the balance of malts which gives it a sweeter finish. Only bought a single of this (mix and match 6-pack fixed price that retailer offers for $10.75), but would definitely buy a 4 or 6 pack in the future.

Pours copper-whiskey color with an off white head with an aroma of citrus. Tastes of sweet malt and citrus with a hint of pine and hops in the finish. It’s full bodied with fairly lively carbonation. I’m a fan of a big beer with a strong malt backbone.

Pours dark reddish brown. Nose faint hops, boozy, strong beer. Taste is bitter, caramel, astringent, chocolate. Good but super old school. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

From Sep 2006 Poured from 22oz bottle a hazy amber with a huge billowy head of foam that shrunk but remained as a billowy layer for the entire session. Color me impressed! The smell is all hoppy and fruity, as in grapefruit and that's pretty much what I was hoping for in this style of ale. The taste is really all about the hops.The grapefruit bitterness is big and I'm finding it's hitting my taste buds on a more than positive note. Yep, if this was available locally and I needed a real hop fix, I'd turn to this one with no hesitation. And...as far as the abv goes, it's hidden pretty darned well so I'm able to tip the glass to my mouth more easily than I should be able to...;^) That says something about how well this DIPA is made by the crew at Weyerbacher. Bottom line: I've had DIPAs that had a goodly amount of malt flavour in 'em to create a respectable balance and I've been able to enjoy those interpretations but... this isn't one of *them* and that is more than ok in my book. See it? Buy it! My thanks to Nutbrown for "throwing" this one in in our trade! Edit: I just received another bottle today(June 16, 2008 from fellow BA Yamar)) so I'll see if anything has changed, tastewise, since I last had this one. Well, the big grapefruit notes are still there with a touch of grass but I'm noticing more of the malt this time, a touch of caramel and a bit of bread. More balance than I reported in my first review. Nice medium mouthfeel and it finishes with a nice bitter hop kick. I'm so glad I got a chance to try it again so I could put a few more details in this addendum to my review. Thanks Kevin!

Bottle. Sensoric. Deep amber, medium hazy, floaty with small to medium, semi-thick, white head. Poor head retention and nice lacing. Aroma is tropical fruits (mango, papaya), resinous, also some moderately noticeable citrus notes (first of all oranges with some grapefruit). Malts are clear - biscuity and bread. Taste is medium to high bitter thru the whole time, perfectly balanced with malts. Full body, creamy texture, average carbonation, finish is sticky, bitter and fruity. Refreshing, ABV is well hidden, which makes it even more drinkable, powerful and dangerous. In general this was one of my first US breweries that I’ve tasted (next to Flying Dog and Andersons Valley), still have old school Weyerbacher in my cellar, so this rating could be a little bit objective, but this beer definitely rocks in it’s powerful bitter taste. Afters few years I’ve tasted similar beer from ToOl SHOCK series: !!!PA Simcoe Mosaic !!!

Many bottles and taps, Draft at P house, clear copper orange with small white head. Notes of sticky pineapple, malt, sugar, bitter pine, and other orange skin fruit. This used to be one of my favorite ipas when i got into the game but after drinking clean juices like boat, old man hill hops, and good cali stuff its impossible to go back to these boozy, sticky, and sweet hoppy offerings.
