ALLOVATE (3645) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - JAN 2, 2022UPDATED: JAN 2, 2022 Number 11 for Kalea 12 days of Christmas.
Into a dimple stein, chilled. Unexpected, yellow gold body and shimmering, with a solid finger of tight, white foam atop. Heady, spiced, bready nose with ample toasted brioche, toasted white bread, sunny grains, hay bales, lemon balm and earthy, herbal hops. A similar case on the palate. Dusty yet sweet. Light yet rounded with soft carbonation and a softer finish. This builds to be quite full in body as it warms. Light in hop with just and earthy herbal note on the finish fading off into the malty swallow. Vollbier or Münchner Helles spring to mind, but definitely absent of Wiener malz. Very grainy, bready, toasty with a rounded earthy nuttiness. A lovely lager, whatever it was meant to be. Could easily smash quite a few steins of this. (50cL can, BBE 05/2023, Aldi Cannington)

Just starting to get a bit of oxidation in there but not bad. Slightly sweet. Decent.

patrick767 (5705) - fort wayne, Indiana, USA - DEC 25, 2021UPDATED: DEC 25, 2021 Pours clear gold with a one finger white head. I’m not sure why a vienna lager isn’t amber colored at all, but okay. It has a grainy, biscuity, somewhat fruity aroma. The flavor is sweet with a little hops bitterness in there. I didn’t find it overly sweet though. It’s biscuity with a little lemon. Pretty good. It’s admittedly not a style I’m likely to rate much above average on a hedonistic scale, but it’s well made.
