UPDATED: JUN 28, 2018 Pours black with tan head. Aroma is roast, light coffee and some cocoa. Taste is light chocolate, moving to heavy roast and coffee. Finish is all roast. A so-so stout.

Draft at Woodstock Inn Brewery in North Woodstock, NH. Pitch black with a small beige head. Very dark roasted barley flavor. Smooth. A little thin for the style.

From tap this summer in Woodstock Inn brewpub. Pours dark with brownish thick head. Taste of coffee, chocolate and bit of caramel. Medium body. Very light for stout because of oatmeal. Good carbonated. Nice beer overall.

On tap at ACBF in Boston. Pours dark brown, almost black. Nose is chocolate, malts, coffee and notes of caramel. A hint of earthiness and grass. Flavor is balanced. Full-ish body. Average carbonation. Not bad.

Dark brown to black, 1 finger creamy head. Very faint nose, a bit of chocolate. Taste is thin, very high bitterness, roasted walnuts. a mild honey taste. It’s thin, almost no body, very bitter but not a challening beer. Pretty good.

Pours black with a caramel head. Aroma is of malts, barley, a little chocolate, molasses, and some roastiness. There is a little sweetness in the background. Heavy, oil slick palate. Flavor is of metallic malts, sweet booziness, lactic, spoiled yeast, and some sludge (if that makes any sense). Leaves a sweeter spoiled malt flavor. Not a big fan of this one.

Reviewed from notes. Another beer from Eric. This was poured into a mug. The appearance was a black color with a one finger white foamy head that dissipated within less than a minute. There was some light speckled lacing running here and there in a messy sort of way around the glass. The smell was roasty with a full grainy/oatmeal aroma about it. A light chocolate and coffee combination then came about to fulfill a wonderful aroma all about. The taste was once again roasty and grainy with a light chocolate and coffee rolling about on my taste buds. On the palate, this sat about a light to medium on the body with a fair sessionability about it. The carbonation seemed just a tad under for the oatmeal stout style. Am I complaining? Actually, I didn’t mind it for the most part. Overall, not a bad oatmeal stout, I think I could do this again.

On tap at the brewpub in 2010. Poured dark brown/black color. Aroma of was ok, chocolate and earth with something I couldn’t pick out. Flavor of roasted malt, hint of coffee, caramel and cocoa. Something just didn’t click, but it was ok.
