Cask; Regular. Also available bottle conditioned.
Thumbing through her grandfather’s books, Dorothy came upon a recipe for a wonderful stout with intense roasted barley flavours and a dry, bitter finish.
Together with her friend Jimmy, our head brewer, she created this dark, full-bodied number. It boasts roasted coffee notes and plenty of hop flavour.

Aromas of roasted malts, chocolate and coffee. Taste is more roasty notes, chocolate and coffee with a hint of liquorice and also some sweetness. Bitter roasty finish. Medium to full body with a smooth mouthfeel. Above average Stout.

Nonshaugen (987) - Fetsund, NORWAY - OCT 10, 2021
UPDATED: OCT 10, 2021 50 cl bottle, BB July 31st 2022. Clear, dark ruby colour, thin beige head, low carbonation. Nice aroma of roasted malts, chocolate and toffee. Medium mouthfeel, nice carbonation, medium bitter. Tastes like a regular stout, some roasted malts, some chocolate and hints of dark fruits from the hops. It's OK, but I was hoping for more, period.

Martinsh (1348) - Crewe, Cheshire, ENGLAND - APR 14, 2021
UPDATED: APR 14, 2021 Cask at Shrewsbury Arms, Stafford. Pours a very dark reddish brown with a sizeable foamy beige head and good lacing. Aroma is mainly roasted malts with maybe some chocolate hidden in there. There’s a bitter / sour flavour immediately apparent in the mouth. It’s an earthiness with bitter coffee, offset by roasted malts and hints of vanilla to give it blanace. Finish is bitter and salty. A stout which tastes like a stout – excellent !

jjsint (6133) - Leicester, Leicestershire, ENGLAND - APR 14, 2021
UPDATED: APR 14, 2021 Handpull cask from the Kings Head, Leicester. I have had this so many time (mostly in the early 2000s pre-RB), I am surprised not to have rated it. Dark brown, opaque with a foamy beige head. Malty aroma with notes of dried grass and fresh paper. Taste is bittersweet with that medicinal sourness that many of the great dry stouts display toward the finish. Full body for the ABV with very little carbonation. Decent little stout.

Mortlach (4352) - Rome, ITALY - SEP 29, 2019
UPDATED: SEP 29, 2019 Cask @OG Pub (Rome). Bruna intensa, impenetrabile, schiuma beige media. Al naso note di malti tostati, caramella d'orzo, caffé, nocciola in polvere, cioccolato. In bocca è dolce all'attacco con finale appena amaro a bilanciare. Corpo esile, watery, carbonazione soft. Delicata, molto british... non male!
