Cokemonkey11 (1755) - - OCT 18, 2020UPDATED: OCT 18, 2020 Bottle at home. Pale amber with soap bubbles, looks like unclean glass. Scent is intensive peat smoke (!) Taste is bacon, pale malt, caramel, harsh bitter buckwheat, corn starch. Medium cedar wood. Finish is starchy. Very good beer, but the peat is a gimmick on an otherwise average golden ale.

Grumbo (14439) - Ipswich, Suffolk, ENGLAND - JUN 10, 2019UPDATED: JUN 10, 2019 10/6/2019. Bottle, sample, courtesy of danlo, cheers Ed! Pours almost clear slightly pale gold with a small foamy off-white head. Initial aroma shocks! Takes a while to even get near the glass (missed the 'don't f'ing sniff it' warning hidden in the information). Peat, creosote, wood-burner, soot, heavy smoked cheese, herbal ointment, and some late developing citrus orange. Light sweetness, medium to heavy bitterness. Medium body, slight oily texture, average carbonation. So much going on, and after a while started to appreciate it a lot more. Left a finish of yesterday's cigar (which in itself isn't necessarily a bad thing as that is normally one sign it was a good night!). And the more of this beer I tried the more I found it enjoyable. Though not too sure why.
danlo (8048) - Darlington, Durham, ENGLAND - MAY 29, 2019UPDATED: MAY 29, 2019 330ml bottle from Hop Burns & Black. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, dry smokey peaty finish. OK, dominated by the smoked peat notes.

imdownthepub (22082) - Banbury, Oxfordshire, ENGLAND - JAN 15, 2019UPDATED: JAN 15, 2019 Bottled, 330ml from The Bottle Shed, Acocks Green, Birmingham. Hazy gold with white head. There is a heavy smoked character to this, this is a 60 nails a day beer, wheezy. Damp bonfire with smoked sausage, bacon notes. Strange drinking, couldn't manage much more. It's okay.
