UPDATED: MAR 4, 2020 Angenehm malzig mit schönen Röstaromen. Darüberhinaus etwas hopfig, leichte Süße, süffig.

From old tasting notes. Splendid garnet red color with a creamy beige head. Small bubble carbonation. Toasted malt aroma reminiscent of baked bread. Sweet toasted malt flavor with a hint of treacle and brandy. Bittersweet finish where the hops come through. Long bitter aftertaste. Hearty to say the least. Good for the cold winter nights of London.

Bottle. Dark Brown in colour. Malty; roasty malts, caramel, some chocolate notes. Hoppy; slight hops. Fruity; some fruit. Spicy. Sweet malty fruity with a slight bitter edge. Dry bitter malty finish. (2008)

God, karamelagtig, lidt bitter, næsten så tyk som Guiness. Perfekt til de lange vinteraftener

"a pleasant enough brew, but IMHO not strong enough to be classed as a strong ale or winter warmer. complex nose and flavor, leaning more towards roasted malt. quite enjoyable."

Wintery ESB with dark copper colour and dense, light beige head. Full and pleasant malty aroma, caramel, nuts, cinnamon, pretty rich taste, malty with a dry hop bitter finish. More a strong ale than a true ESB too me.

Pours a nice reddish brown color with off-white head. Dark fruits, caramel, and some roasted malt on the nose; follows onto the palate. Finishes with more dark fruit.

500 ml bottle from old backlog notes 07/08. Pours a clear reddish brown color with a medium sized creamy beige head. The aroma and flavor have some candied fruit, caramel, butterscotch, some earthy bitterness to the finish. Seems faded.

12oz bottle (Old Notes-My label say Youngs Winter Ale)-Pours a medium ruby with a small head. Aroma of malts and caramel. Taste of the same. This light to medium bodied brew is a bit light and weak for a Winter brew but otherwise it has a nice little taste to it.

Brown 500ml bottle, 5.2% and brewed in Wansworth according to the neck label, best before 31st Oct 2007, drank on a cold and wet 14th June 2007, it feels like winter. Poured into a pint sleeve glass. Rich ruby red, dark mahogany colour with a well formed off white head. Very little aroma, malts and toast maybe. The taste is malty and bitter, with a burnt coffee/toffee feel to it. Fairly dry in the mouthfeel and not much of an alcohol bite to it. I was expecting more from this beer, having in the past, drank it on cask.
