One of the newer additions to Prague's Letná beer place cluster is this, the physical store of the Czech American beer importer, really an exciting place to have around / visit - as they get Tree House and Trillium frequently for example, fairly fresh too technically. A sizeable place, but without many places to sit at at first glance. Wonder what it's like with less strict rules, but hm, it didn't seem like a place one sticks around at first experience. The young lady behind the counter knows her stuff and was quick to point out they got a fresh shipment of aforementioned hype breweries, so I got a 1 month old Julius, hah. Some 7-8 fridges filled with a huge variety of American beer, mostly in cans. 1 tap too, but didn't partake. There's some macro stuff, I guess with expats requesting it, but it's a wild assortment really, breweries that don't even have that big of a name. Fairly sure I could get a few state ticks (like Rhode Island, though I wasn't paying 310kc for a can of a kettle sour...). Prices are... hm. It definitely depends on whom they get stuff from - but, say, hype brewery haze that is Julius was cheaper than random brewery pale ales and kettle sours. Nearly everything is expensive as expected, though some stuff seems okay for the price, some is just weird. But hey, still better than American prices in Scandinavia I guess? For a rabid ticker, especially since they get one-offs and specials as well it's so damn easy to overspend - it's an expensive commodity to begin with. I doubt I'll be hitting this that often unless I get 3 more people for a tasting group and to split the costs. Anywho, an excellent store. The only qualm is that the 1mo Julius was in a slightly worse shape than expected for 1mo - like the shipping wasn't ideal perhaps, dunno. I'll probably concentrate on the less hop-driven stuff I guess. How to get here:1, 8, 12, 25, 26 to Letenské námestí or Kamenická depending on where you're coming from. In the latter case take the eponymous street right to Veletržní, cross the street, and it'll be a bit to the left. From Letenské námestí, be sure you cross Veletržní immediately to the north side (and follow it "right"/east) - if you don't, you'll have to either jaywalk (heh) or circle around, no crossings until after it.
