Belching Beaver Deftones #1: Phantom Bride | 7.1% | 3/7/2021 |
76 Not to be confused with the actual brewery, this rustic little venue is the North Park location. Any trip to San Diego MUST include a venture to this neighborhood - Take the No. 2 Bus from downtown. Belching Beaver - North Park is perfectly situated between Rip Current's North Park tap house and El Cajon Boulevard, where you'll find Eppig, Pariah, Barn and Tiger! Tiger!, the latter being just around the corner. There is somewhat of a hipster scene: man-buns, tattoos and your general lay-abouts, all of whom are very amiable and just looking for reasonably priced brews. They offer about 30 taps of their own, and boast a goodly range of styles. (Plenty of IPAs, naturally.) There is a regular-sized bar accompanied by the ubiquitous plastic stools. There are several tables, few of which are along the large windows looking out onto bustling 30th Street, where the No. 2 will pass to take you to your next stop.

86 Largish venue. Gemutliche surroundings. Apparently something of a local. Beginning to show a little wear, but that adds to atmosphere. I had to add a bunch of new BB ales. One server, but at 3:30 in the anoon it worked. The 1$ munchie bowl was carbs and salt. Right on. Good place. Oh, and the wifi worked!!! |
74 Good sized place with a small outside seating area. Service was good and helpful. Selection was quite large and flights available. Prices and beer were both decent. A solid stop. |
70 Large place with an open front and sidewalk tables. Small bar and lots of bar tables. Decent enough range of interesting and creative beers. Snack bowls for a buck are good value. |
76 Cool spot with just the bar and some hangout space, no brewing here, but plenty of seating and definitely a fun atmosphere. Service was good, fun and knowledgeable. Selection leans towards their adjunct beers, but some solid hops too. It's another you can stop at if in the North Park area for Modern Times and Mike Hess. |

74 Visited on a Tuesday evening in late January 2017. The place was not crowded during my visit. The service was friendly and the selection was good. I really love the 30th Street with all the different places. I must go back to San Diego in the future. |
74 You gotta love the name! Do beavers belch? I suppose they do. Interior is small and rough, giving a cozy and unpretentious feel. They have just a few of their brews on-tap, but all range from good to great. When I was there, a couple people had brought their dogs, but the pooches were well-behaved. No loud music or distracting TVs, just good beer, plenty of places to sit including a couple sofas, and friendly folks. |
82 Visited 22.4.16. Stumbled upon this tasting room as we were walking on the way to another beer place on the street, and figured what the hell. The beautiful "Greetings From" mural was a big plus for us. Food truck was standing outside. It was very crowded and noisy when we got there. Still found a relatively quiet corner. The sweet stout was really nice, the rest were ok-ish. Clearly a welcoming place with board games and such scattered around. |
78 We came here on 17.2.2016. Parking was a challenge, it seemed guests from this pub are not welcome at any of the surrounding parking places. We parked at the shopping center not too far away. Small nice pub (liked the large photo of their brewery on the left side, bar is too small) with very friendly service. Unfortunately the beer selection on this day was limited due to some capacity issues (apparently they open up 2-3 more pubs). We enjoyed a 1$ off the pint deal due to the 3pm to 6 pm happy hour. Highlight was the P-butter stout tapped with nitro. Overall a good place to come back again. |
