72 Listed here that has over 800 bottles. Its more like 300+ with fridge space behind. Loug rock music playing from speakers, nice tap room with good selection. Service was OK. This spot is not for everyone. |
84 So I stopped in because it was a highly rated bottle shop. Let me talk about that first. This is one of those places that is clearly owned by beer lovers, and yet cannot figure out which beers deserve cooler treatment. Tons of IPA/DIPA sitting around at room temperature while sours lounged in the coolers. I suppose that the coolers double as the storage for on-site consumption bottles, but still. There were also a preponderance of OLD IPA’s and the like sitting on the shelves. I ended up with a 3 month old IPA can because I was not paying close enough attention. That said they also had a pretty good selection of interesting bottles, including several Oxbow and three Grrrz variants - first time I have seen those on a shelf anywhere. Now I turn my attention to the bar. 24 taps with a heavy focus on local breweries. Computer monitors display the tap list. No flights, but half pours available. I was able to easily tick 2 or 3 new Virginia breweries, which is getting harder to do. Service was great. Definitely a good stop, just watch bottle dates on perishable stuff. |
92 One of the better curated bottleshop beer selections in Hampton Roads. Excellent service from Chris. Cheese and Charcuterie were outstanding.
Simple concept but executed well.
Protip: Buy 2 crowlers get one for a penny on Mondays! |
86 Friendly helpful staff, a nice selection on tap and a decent selection of beer and a limited selection of wine. They do have a few beers that are unique and I haven’t found elsewhere. |
