74 Located just across the Mahr's. We've visited later in the evening and the place was quite full. Solid selection of 4 to 5 beers with decent quality. If you're in the area worth checking out. |
82 2019 July. Even if it's a brief walk for city center it's a worth to take upon it - the brewery is situated just in front of Mahr's brau, so it's two targets with one shoot. Somehow this place is not as valued by beer drinkers globaly as other breweries of Bamberg. And I don't know why and how. It gave my very good impression. Clean and neat, with typical franconian logistics of selfservice by the windon in the corridor leading from street across the building to the brewery. You are served by old lady, she's mumbling something to herself in german and trying to do hers best to explain you what they have on tap. And beers were awesome and just what we wanted at that particular moment. To conclude - I would say, that together with Greifenklau, Keesmann are the least exciting independent breweries worth a visit. But if Greifenklau is hyped on the bulletin boards, somehow this one is missed upon and for personally gave a so much better impresion. Totally worth a visit. |
74 Visited in August 2019 on a 5-day Bamberg and surroundings trip with Caesar. First place we visited and it did not disappoint. Enjoyed two 0,5 liter beers each before heading across the street to Mahrs. Very much recommended place to visit though. |
52 Pity that kitchen doesn't start before 17'o'clock. Essen nur nach fünf, das ist spääääät!!! But I found a Keesmann Gold. Cold and delicious. |
84 Brief pleasant walk from the center. Visited two days in a row & I never went inside. We hang outside in the courtyard and ordered through the opening of the wall. Plenty of locals with varying ages. About four beers, great places and good to very solid quality, what more could you want? Personally I do prefer Mahr’s Bräu across the street. |
78 Medium-sized Gaststätte next to the brewery with a comparably light wooden interior and only minimalistic decoration, making it less cluttered and more bright than most other places in this city. There are also a couple of tables in the courtyard on sunny days. Their Herrenpils is the best Pilsener in the area if you ask me and the menu offers a little more than your standard Braten and Schäuferla (sour kidneys and liver Berlin-style for example). Quite popular with the locals, not so much with the tourists strangely enough. Highly recommended. |

80 Visited 4.10.17 quite late in the evening. Place was crowded, mostly with senior citizens. Friendly and noisy, fair prices. Beers weren't the best in Bamberg (though the Weisse was surprisingly good). Sat with 2 chemical engineers from Munich whose recommendations for the region really upped the following day's experience. |
58 Big beer garden quite close to Mahrs.
A few of their own beers on tap. Service and prices are nice and cheap (as usual for this region!). Not too memorable besides a good Herren Pils, which you can also get at other places. |
62 Ambiance - Visited just 30 minutes before closing time on a Saturday (so mid-day). Calm German brewpub but I suspect it gets crowded when open on evenings. Service - Prompt and fairly friendly. Selection - A couple of their own beers on tap. Had fairly high hopes for the quality but the beers didn’t live up to my expectations. Food - Did not eat. Value - Very fair. Additional comments - None! |
