74 Went there on a Saturday afternoon and met the owner/beermaster and everything else of the brewery. It's really a very small operation, a garage really, but they are trying hard! The guy had 14 of their brews plus one cider and one kombucha available. The place was dimly lit as mentioned, but felt authentic. I tried 8 of their brews as flights, they were decent. Not easy to reach though. |
74 Decent beers. They had nine on. Bad internet connection and dimly lit hard to read board was a challenge. |
76 Part of queens beer trolley tour the definition of a grassroots start up operation. Everything built and modified by hand the only employees while I was there was owner and his wife. Funky garage type of joint. Decent amount of draft including a couple kombuchas and they want to start experimenting with cider as well. Beers were decent enough and certainly not placating to current trends which imappreciate. |
90 Went there because after reading the story of the brewery it felt like there is lots of passion behind those brews. We were´t wrong. The place is sharing space with the brewery, a comfy taproom with seats by the bar and tables. Service was excellent and the beers also very good, very creative and for the lowest price I have seen in NY. Highly recommended, just 3 minutes walk from Helsey St. subway station. |
86 If you’re not from Queens (or maybe Brooklyn)...this brewery is out of the way...like FinBack...but also like Finback...worth the effort to get there! What’s best about this place is the guy running it (great conversationalist) and the feeling of accomplish arriving here if not from the area. The place is simple...eclectic maybe...but very enjoyable. They have a large selection of beers...at least 12 when I recently visited. The beers were good to very good...the conversation was even better...and I very much enjoyed talking to the locals...in fact we enjoyed our time with two of them so much they followed us to Keg & Lantern for even more good times! Make an effort to track this place down...you’ll be glad you did! |
