58 Big and quite modern interior, comfortable environment and a decent place to stop on the way back from Beautiful Beers to the station. Beer selection is what it is. Quite heavily focused on GK's Craft Academy beers which are so-so. Definitely better than waiting at the station for 40 minutes if en route to the train and the Beerhouse is not open. |
68 This is a useful one to try when you also visiting the nearby Cannon Street Brewery and Brewshed brewpubs. This Greene King pub has expanded in floor area over the years; the area to the right that was formerly a separate dwelling is now the food area and there is a small rear patio behind here. There is accommodation available and the pub is now part of GK’s Olde English Inns chain.
The pub has four cask beers that include two guests (largely from microbrewers) and a house beer (assumed to be from GK). GK IPA does not appear to be sold. The surprising element of the pub is its decent bottled range (comprising the GK craft range and others such as Brooklyn) and an interesting keg range (GK Yardbird in keg form and two Brewdogs- Trashy Blonde and Punk IPA). There is also a keg wheat beer offering even if it is only Blue Moon.
