84 Proper old school pub. Lots of small tables and etched glass. Friendly staff and a long line of hand pulls. Within sight of Hackney central station. |
76 Visited with TT 23.08.19. Friendly and lively atmosphere with a good selection of casks and cider. We ended the evening with a pint of Crone's Special Reserve Cider (7.5 % ABV). |
66 10min+ walk from Red Hand in buzzling multicultural Dalston thru middle-class housing area back to Hackney Central. Cock Tavern looks like a traditional, a bit run down pub but they have a good selection of craft beer on cask plus real ciders. Customers seem to be from suit guys to not so succesful ones. Cromarty Rogue Wave I've had before, fruity and pale malty. Beatnikz I Smash Mosaice tasty although not the strongest Mosaic showcase. |
56 Interesting sort of place. Classic old-man boozer complete with a bored barwoman and a junkie in the corner. Surprising selection of beers though the condition of the casks wasn't great. I'd probably re-visit if I was in the area. |
68 Large open plan place with a great selection of beers on tap and handpull.. |
78 Situated on the same block as my hotel, this looked like an old pub, but inside was pure craft beer. A bit dark, but great selection of handles. Food was only available by delivery. Nice little place. |
80 Authentic old corner pub with heavy wood interior and not much light. The bar crew is quite knowledgeable and gives good suggestions. The selection consists of several taps and a lot of casks. This bar may not be perfect for everyone, but if you like authentic old and a bit dark pubs, this is somewhat of a benchmark. |
74 Corner pub with a wood heavy interior, dark painted, darkly lit, and very cosy for it. An 'L' shaped bar against its inside walls has an impressive row of cask pumps on it, with plenty of worthwhile local ales and guests, but they have a good focus on real cider in here too and the end pumps may include 4 or 5 clips for these. These may be served from a box but as I only had ale here I'm not sure. It's only a couple of minutes walk south of Hackney Central station. |
